I don't know what wood is but it looks like the finish is wore close to the handle showing a lighter color

Either zebra wood, or possibly goncalo alves. I just picked some up that looks strikingly similar.

The problem with either of those is that the color is different where the finish has worn off above the buttcap. My guess of ash is due to the very open grain taking on more color/saturation.

It would be easier to identify if we knew more about what kind of weight was added to the cue, joint type, measurements, etc.. it'd still be a guess, but could eliminate some things.
