wood material for cue butts?

i am wanting a custom cue and was wondering what woods were best for "upscale" cue butts. i have a piece of teak that i got from a shipwrecked boat. the boat was actually broken in half and about 40 yards apart and located literally in the middle of the caribbean ocean (baja nuevo). my wife and i went on a 7 year sailing sabatical and the teak has special "memory" value. so in that i am in the market for a new cue, would this type of wood be okay? if so, any recommendations on what cuemaker would be a good choice and one that would get the job done before next election?

Very cool piece of wood for sure. I don't know how stable it would be, but you could try. Only down side is that if it's not stable enough to work. but you could always have something else made too.

I am waiting on a purple heart beauty from him right now, and the Roman Alexander cue at the bottom is my current player.

thank you justin.....some woodworkers will not work with teak as it is a very hard wood....i will check into the source you gave me and see what his opinion is for this type wood.

I don't see why you could not use it in the butt of a cue. If there are any issues with stability it could be cored.

Obviously it's not a standard material for a cue , But I've seen lots of sentimental pieces used for cues as well. It only have to be decorative and not necessarily structural in the butt of a cue.
