Hi. Who are the top 5 or so best-playing wood on wood cue makers today in many folks' opinion, Irish linen and wrapless? Thanks.

as a maker i dont buy many cues anymore but my top 2 easy are
bryan mordt BCM cues
eric crisp sugartree cues
i have a great deal of respect for them both

There are a LOT of fine cue makers who can and do make this type of jointed cue. This does not mean that they will all play the same...far from it. The quality of materials and workmanship play a big role. Shaft tapers will play a HUGE role is how each cue plays in relation to the other.
Also, I have very recently had a revelation that a SS jointed cue can play very similarly to that of a wood/wood jointed cue. So, do not 'limit' your choices simply from what you have been told.
Only YOU know what type of 'hit' you are trying to achieve. I suggest that you try as many different cues as you can...with both joint types...and make your decision from there. It really is the best and least expensive way of finding a cue that is 'right' for you. Otherwise you may wind up spending some big $$$ while 'chasing' down that elusive 'perfect playing' cue. But, for some, the 'hunt' is half the fun.
Please bear in mind, however, that even cues from the same maker, while having similar characteristics with regards to playability, can/will have different 'hits' or 'feel', dependent upon the wood combinations used, shaft tapers, ferrule materials, and tips.
