I recently watched the world cup of pool. Initially I received a free link and the quality was great, very smooth. However, when I realized that it was intended to be a PPV and, since I do not believe in ripping off the legitimate supplier of this stream, I went to the official site, paid the reasonable price of $8.99 and started to watch there. It was not watchable at all. Jerky, sound out of synch. etc.

I sent an email to their technical people and they came back with a ton of suggestions non of which are valid. I have the latest programs and fastest speeds for streaming at the best quality because I like to watch pool on my big screen TV. After several, not very satisfactory exchanges, I decided to give up and switch to the Turning Stone event. The Accu-Stats stream was smooth and I greatly enjoyed it.

However, I still tried the official site for the World Cup several more times (got up real early to try to get some matches and became real tempted to go back to the "free" link but resisted that) and it continued to be simply not watchable. I am now worried that the Mosconi Cup might have the same crappy stream. (Last year was fine).

Did anyone else have problems with the stream?
 
This post cud have been written by me word by word man!!

I knew that there were free streams out there, but i thought 8 Euro is ok for a lot of pool. lets support these guys. and i had to experience chopiness, freezes and constant quality shifts. I also contacted the support from livesport.tv and i got the bot answer back with tons of suggestions which were not applicable to me at all. when i wrote them back again, i did not get an answer for 36 hours! I was not amused :mad:

to be fair, i have to confess that when the stream worked to its full potential, which it did from time to time for half hour portions, the quality was outstanding! In my opinion unparalleled by any other (HD) stream i watched. and I wud bet that in my country no-one has watched more pool streams than I. Ok, Switzerland is a small country, but still.

As my fore-poster already pointed out, I am worried too, that the broadcast quality might spoil the Mosconi Cup.

Lets hope this will not be the case... just my 2 cents.

If you had paid for it and the main streamed sucked for you, why couldn't you just go watch it on one of the free stable re-streams?

After all you had paid for it, so what did it matter at that point what stream you watched it on?...lol

I watched one of the quarter finals it was great stream. I have FIOS, 50 Mbps, never lagged or froze..I wish i was able to watch the finals.
 
As i mentioned the quality was outstanding when running smoothly. the tourney lasted for about a week and there were good and bad days. but i was told from other users that the free streams were having the same issues like the ppv. furthermore, it was also shown on german free tv (sport 1) but since i truly detest the german commentary, i used the audio from the stream and the picture from tv. which was surprisingly very much in sync.

For a smooth playback experience, you need a broadband internet connection. If your broadband connection isn’t fast enough, videos may stutter. If you are experiencing stuttering or choppy playback, here are some suggestions that may help:
Your video download speed may be slow or inconsistent.
If you are watching video over a wireless connection and your video is stuttering, try watching over a wired connection or move your computer closer to your wi-fi router for a stronger signal.
If you are running any bandwidth-intensive applications on your own computer (e.g. Vuze, BitTorrent, Outlook, other downloads, internet phone services such as Skype, Vonage, MagicJack), you may want to pause these applications while watching.
If you are sharing an internet connection with other people, check to see if they are using any bandwidth-intensive programs (such as those outlined above) while you are watching videos.
If the video is still stuttering, you may be experiencing issues with your CPU performance. Try turning off any CPU-intensive programs you're running, or rebooting your computer. Additionally, you can try running the site in a different browser, or updating your Flash drivers.

If you experience video stalling problems only during full-screen mode, try lowering your desktop resolution.

Unfortunately, we are unable to fix this problem - you can try contacting your Internet Service Provider to request help.

Yes generic solutions but could help others possibly.
 
i paid for it on sunday b/c the free stream was showing something else during the semi match. it was very clear on my big monitor. 1.99 on sunday.
