'World Nine-ball Tour'............Matchroom announcement

i'm curious of this wild west approach. does it mean i'm a world champion since i set up a world championship in my basement? WPA may be incompetent but nevertheless all sports need governing bodies. barry hearn may be a genius in many ways but this move wasn't a genius move

i guess the new ones of significance are the asia open and the spanish open

Perhaps Matchroom is hoping to be like the NFL or NBA, who have little to do with the "world" organizations that govern their sports (IFAF/USFAF and FIBA).

Wow, Mosconi Cup prize money is $375,000? That seems way higher than the past.
Last year it was $30,000 to each player (and the captain?) on the winning side and $15,000 to each player (and the captain?) on the losing side. For 2023, they announced: "Each player and captain on the winning team set to take home $40,000 each with the runners-up and captain set to collect $20,000."

So 6 at $40,000 and 6 at $20,000 makes $360,000. I wonder what the other $15,000 is.

This accounts for $300k. Add in the coaches maybe and the MVP I assume. Hard to say where that last $75k comes from.

See post 42. All that isn't specifically accounted for is $15,000. And from what you posted, it looks like that goes to "BONUSES," which, as you said, could be, or include, the MVP award.

The 9 ball world championship is a separate agreement and still a WPA sanctioned event.

It was total genius to get the rights to that event.

The WPA took the money for 9 years and held it in Qatar in the Middle East where no one wanted to go.

It was basically a non-event.
