You guys have done very well over the years product wise and tournament wise. Our hats go off to you. Keep up the good work. Now, you have a world straight pool, a world 9-ball, and a world 10-ball. Have you considered a world one-pocket tourney??? I believe I speak for many of people who would like to particpate and/or spectate this event. And believe you me, the turnout would be fantastic. I'm a lower-class player (F++)(wink), but even i would try to qualify for a spot to play on the 'world stage'. It's just something I thought about: something for Predator to consider.

Peace,

Wutang,

In the absence of an official World IP Championship, most top players consider the DCC IP event to be the equivalent of that competition.

It does draw nearly 400 of the top 1P players in the world and so arguably it does represent the best the game has to offer.

I agree, it would be more prestigious to qualify and play in such a tourney.

I have heard mention that NCS has been considering a National 1P tourney that have multiple qualifiers staged around the country but I'm not sure if it will take place in '09.

Bernie P,

I slightly hear and see where you are coming from. But I do not accept that. That's a bitter pill for me to swallow. The DCC is a multi-discipline tourney: banks, one-pocket, nine ball, etc. You mean to tell me that if you won the nine ball division of the DCC, you would derive the same feeling as you would if you won the U.S. Open? Wpa World? World Predator? or any other tourney recognized by the 'global governing body of pool'? No I did'nt think so. I cannot look at the DCC one-pocket division as my 'world champioship'. Yeah that's all we got for now but that's why I'm writing this
post to try to get the 'buzz' in people's ears and heads. IMO, I don't think it is of the interest of any sponsor because the game is unpopular and has that 'shady' image to go along with it. The game is too intricate, not easily comprehended, and 'unexcitable' for tv. Contrarily, I think the player turnout would be GREAT. Cause I think you would have Legends and New Generations players come out-of-the-woodwork to particpate. I'm still trying to find out about the U.S. Open One Pocket championships. The last one, i believe was in '07. It was Gabe Owen and Tony Chochan in the finals. If they had one last year, I just missed out. As they said 'I want my MTV'....I say: 'I want my World One Pocket tourney'.

Peace

As far as I know, since it's inception - winning a banks or one pocket event through the DCC has been considered a "World" title since there was/nor is any other event available to equal it in terms of quality and quantity of competition in those individual disciplines.

The one pocket division of the DCC is without a doubt the equivalent of a world title. It's the only major one pocket event in the world to my knowledge and EVERY top one pocket player is there: Reyes, Gabe Owen, Chohan, Frost, Varner, JJ, Pagulayan, Joyner, etc. They get like 400 players each event, where else are you going to find a one pocket field like that?

wutang,
Regarding your question on the 1P US Open, it was last held in 2007:

I raised a question over on onepocket.org about any newer ones to be held. It appears Mark Griffin probably owns the rights to it:

Maybe now that he has announced the new 10 Ball US Open for next year, maybe he will bring back the 1P event too. Or will they focus rather on getting the NCS 1P event that Bernie mentioned off the ground:

Any chance of the Galveston 1P event becoming bigger than the Derby?
