Why is there no tournament that will pit country for country?
We have the mosconi cup which pit US vs Europe but europe is
not represented by a single country but a confederate of nations,
notwithstanding it only pit two group of competitors.
I think the pool world leaders/financers should produce one,
because for me it is very high time.
Although the potential problem would be
a country who don't have that many representatives.
But countries like Philippines, Chinese Taipei, USA, Japan, Canada,
Germany, UK etc. can form a team for themselves.

What do you think guys?

Maybe some day when pool becomes bigger.

For now, I'd like to see Asia join the Mosconi cup to make it a three way battle!

World Pool Cup

A World Pool Cup? What a great idea. The Davis Cup in Tennis. World Cup Football. Golf has several. But pool? First there needs to be an agreed upon sanctioning body. As you've read on this forum many times before, if it ain't American, we won't go for it! Too many of them forigners with their funny rules. No special treatment for us? Forget about it!

Seriously, its a great idea. If the rest of the billiards world gets excited, the Americans will have to join. The Philippines, Taipei, Japan, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Canada etc. would be a great base to start with. Most of them recognize the WPA now. Would billiards as an Olympic sport help?

I recalled reading somewhere that the governing body of billiards applied to the Olympics so that our sport would be part of the games but it was rejected by the Olympics.

I recall a 4-nation tournament in the mid '90's which included the U.S.and the Philippines. The Philippines won. Today, there are probably only 4 or
5 countries which can compete head-on (U.S., the Philippines, Chinese Taipei, Germany and probably the Netherlands). But if you want to see only
topnotch pool, the best format is a three-sided tournament ASIA vs. U.S.A. vs. EUROPE with the following players:

ASIA
Efren Reyes
Francisco Bustamante
Alex Pagulayan
Chun Shun Yang
Hui Kai Hsia

U.S.A.
Johnny Archer
Earl Strickland
Rodney Morris
Jeremy Jones
Charlie Williams

EUROPE
Mika Immonen
Ralf Souquet
Thorsten Hohmann
Tony Drago
Neils Feijen
