The WPL has just started and the matchroom forum is providing live updates. This is the reason why Hohmann, Souquet, Feijen and Orcollo are not in the US Open. This is a race to 10 in the initial rounds.


Orcollo vs Chang 6 - 4
Feijen vs Hohmann 6 - 4
Souquest vs Babica 5 - 5

Correction -

Correction: It is not a race to 10. The player who is on top after 10 games wins the match so the scores I have posted are the FINAL scores for the first round for these 6 players participating in the WPL:

Orcollo vs Chang 6 - 4
Feijen vs Hohmann 6 - 4
Souquest vs Babica 5 - 5

Well anybody could potentially win it, but I like Orcullo's chances in this one.
 
What's the format? All the scores are either 6-4 or 5-5. Are they doing alternate break best of 10 with no tiebreaker if it ends 5-5? I've never seen this before. I guess it is supposed to eliminate the advantage of winning the lag in alt breaks. If it is not alt breaks, then it makes no sense to me.
 
The World Pool Masters goes by a point format to determine who advances. The racks are best of 10. A player is awarded 2 points for a win (6+ more racks), 1 point for a draw (5-5), and no points for a loss. The top players after each round advance.
