Just watched Alex destroy some guy named Webber. Turns out he won a local(Gibraltar) qualifier and is mostly a mid/upper level snooker player. Now the rest of the field is pretty much world-class talent. To me this is like having a local club pro getting in the Masters(golf) tournament. Am i alone in this opinion? This guys spot should have been filled by another top player. Did they do it just to put butts in the seats? Matchroom does some odd things in their promotion/running of pool tournaments.

Think of it from a fan/player point of view, you have a chance to play against some top players with a qualifier win. As someone watching the matches live or on TV/stream I don't think I care who the player is. I have more issues with the WPBA players being C and B players and being listed as "pros" than an A or Open player entering a Pro event, even if invitational.

Event is "World Pool Masters". Do you really think a local amateur should be in the field? I'm sure Matchroom did this just to get some local attention for event. Webber looked like a deer-in-the-headlights, WAAAY out of his league.
