World Snooker Final - LIVES UPDATES! :-)

In case anyone is interested the final is happening at the moment and its promising to every bit as dramatic as the Davis v Taylor classic.

Murphy was 10-6 down to stevens over night but amazingly came back to tie the match at 12 each. He then went 16-14 in front to lead the match for the first time since the first frame. Stevens made a century to get one frame back and is looking like drawing level as I type. Its a race to 18 for around 250,000 pounds (about half a million dollars). FYI young Murphy was a 150-1 shot before the event started - he pots balls off the lamp shades and has a dream cue action.

UPDATES:

its 16-16 and down to a best of three!

Murphy has just pummled in a fantastic length of the table long straight red. But then he over hit the black off the spot. He somehow picked a red from the pack into the middle but again over hit the positional shot and left the cb near the jaws. He smashed the black in and then potted another fine red. The commentators have just said "the openind red was brilliant, the black was even better"! Another tough shot break is on 22.

Awesome he just potted another red with the rest. The commentators are finding it hard to control themselves " that was even better than the first shot, the best shot in the championship" as he opened the pack with the rest. His family and coach are visibly shaking in the stands!

Amazing, Murphy misses the brown for a century but wraps up the frame with a great break of 97 to go within 1 frame of becoming the first qualifier to win the world championship since terry griffith many moons ago!

17-16 to murphy

Amazing Stevens misses a simple red on 28 and murphy has the chance to win his first title. He knocks a nice red in with the rest and has split the reds. However the black and pink are tied up and he has alot of work to do.

"Amazing, Astonishing, Astounding" the commentator beams as murphy almost clears the table to clinch his first title 18-16! He potted some amazing pressure balls and deserves the title. At 22 he's the secnd youngest to win the world title behind Stephen Hendry. Not bad for a qualifier!!!

Interesting stat: 17 days, 130 hours and 83 programs - and that was just the BBC. I think british eurosport showed more?

What a great final. After winning the first frame I thought it had dawned on him that he was in the final, and he started to miss shots he had been slamming in all week. I think he was fortunate to be only 5-3 down after the first session. But when he took the lead I got the feeling it was his day, and so it proved. And what a great cue action - he's a bit too powerful for his own good, though that may have been the occasion. I think there is a whole new generation waiting to break through. Steve Davis and Jimmy White in particular looked well past there best unfortunately, and I can't see them surviving too much longer at this level now.

Have to agree, some great young players coming though too. But one that stands out from the rest by a mile is Judd Trump. I hear he is turning pro and going on the tour next season at the age of 16, he's only 15 now I beleive! Youngest avert to get a 147 beaten Ronnies record and has dominated his age group and older age groups in the UK for years.
