World Snooker Final Today!

Ding is turning it on and settled down now
Fantastic break builder when he is on
This is a great matchup of Offence v Defence :D

Mark Selby (Eng) 7-5 Ding Junhui (Chn)

First session (6-2): 125-8 (91), 70-68 (Junhui 52), 101-43 (76), 120-0 (120), 100-0 (70), 77-38, 47-68, 14-107;

Second Session: 73-22, 30-92 (76), 1-103 (103), 49-93 (89)

Watching live the 15th frame..
Ding Made a break of 71, missed a red, Selby needed snookers and of course he tries to get them... 40 minutes later he's still trying.
God I hate you Mark Selby...
He is an amazing player, tromendous amount of talent but an amazing time waster as well.... I know that the rules allow it and yes he does have a chance to steal this frame, but 40 minutes are a bit too much. In his Semifinal with Fu they had a frame lasting for 1 hour 16 minutes!! That's insane...

Update: Ding finaly potted the blue to go 76-52 infront, missed the pink and Selby still got out of his seat to try to get 2 snookers on the pink and black!!! That's rediculous. Once again, I truly hate you Mark Selby.

Update2: Ding potted the pink... Surprised that Mark didn't try to get snookers behind the points of the pockets with only the black on the table.

The name of the game is SNOOKER. :D

I know, and as I said I know that he did have a chance to win that frame...
But I also know I'm not the only one who doesn't like watching 1hour+ frames. Just as that frame ended, Steven Hendry himself said that this is not the kind of snooker he enjoys watching.

I like the safety play in snooker but 1 hour of it is a bit too much for me...

Selby is ridiculous
Even at end when only pink and black balls left, he would need 3 snookers and he still played. He is really a joker, a jester
The audience and commentators already were against him and there was big applause when Ding potted the pink LOL
There should be a rule on maximum number of points that opponent can continue playing. If someone is ahead more than 4 points of remaining points on table, he should be declared winner of frame

I don't think this is a good idea, espesially if this applies for only 4 points.
I do enjoy the safety battles and the comebacks, but not the ones who last for 1 hour. Maybe a limited number of shots would be better but I'm not so sure if this would be a good idea also. The best option really would be the class of the player.

In the 15th frame for example, it was clear that Selby wanted to break Ding's rythm. Maybe he believed that he could steal this frame also as a bonus, but i believe that he simply wanted to distract him with 50 minutes of safety.

We must not forget that many HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of US dollars separate the World Champion from whomever comes in second place. And that's only considering the check. Imagine the windfalls after. Wowser.

I certainly know what you all mean on the slower than slow play, and when it gets like this, I've always had to sit back in my (hotel) chair watching and really appreciated Snooker for the wide range of talent it really takes at that level. The mental fortitude and concentration necessary to perform not only within a frame but over the few days of the Final alone. Unbelievable.
Remarkable.
Awe inspiring is not too far off for me.
Humbling to say the least.

I am familiar with the free ball.
And I also looked up the prize money.

The prize money is a semi-good point in my oppinion but it has fairly good counterpoints.
For 192 thousand pounds I would probably try my best to get 3 snookers on the pink and black. But:
1) While 192 thousand pounds may be an unbelivable amount of money for me, these 2 players have already won at least the 2nd plase prize, so they have 137,500 thousand pounds in their pockets no matter what. Not to shabby either. I would for sure give it a try to get those 3 snookers, but I wouldn't waste 1 hour on one frame.
2) Again, 192 thousand pounds are unbelivable for me, but what about Selby and Ding? http://www.worldsnooker.com/201516-prize-money-schedule/ In only 2 seasons Selby has made little under a million while Ding only 657 thousand pounds. So I would guess that 192 thousand pounds is not that astronomical for those two.

And in my oppinion the strongest counter point:
3) They are playing for that kind of money just because people are watching them. If no one watched snooker they would play for as much as they were willing to bet out of their own pockets. Those 330 thousand pounds that the winner will take come from regular people who like watching this game.
As I said, I like safety play and I am able to enjoy it and the comebacks that ocasionally happen as a result. BUT I can assure you that if every frame lasted for over an hour I wouldn't watch as much snooker as I do, and I have a feeling that lots of other people wouldn't watch as well.

I don't know if I'm a Selby fan yet, but my respect for his game has gone up immensely. So much knowledge. He's a complete player.

With that being said, I think Ding can still win tomorrow. He needs to win with big breaks. No way I see him beating Selby if the frames are longer than 20 minutes.

I trust the everyone is familiar with a 'free ball".

Section 14

If there is one red ball left, a free ball increases the potential maximum points available to 43 instead of 35.

Fouls also generate points.

First prize is £330,000
Loser only gets £137,500

Difference £192,500 or about $281,000 U.S.

How much time would you spend at the table to make that amount?

Scaramouche, these are not playing for the money - not these cos it is small money to them. They want the title not the money . Money is just a nice bonus but money is least from their minds.
Your comments would be true if it was qualified Kyre Wilson who keeps hoping that no one breaks his high score of 143 so he can win GBP10K as he is getting married soon:D

Ding is rolling and looking confident. Wins 1st frame of 3rd session now only behind 8-10
He has to do what he does best - break building and clearances. He has to stay out of reach of "The Torturer" Selby, does not want Selby to grind him for hour long frames again
