World Snooker Professional Championship 2013

Stephen Maguire 8 V 9 Dechawat Poomjaeng

It might have looked like sour grapes from Stephen Maguire to concede the 17th frame when he was 68 points behind needing only 1 snooker but they were due to come off anyways. That leaves 40 odd minutes for the afternoon crowd to leave and make way for the evening session crowd.

Advantage Dechawat Poomjaeng.

Taxi for Maguire

Destination,home.

Stephen Maguire 9 V 10 Dechawat Poomjaeng.

Yet another shock result at the Crucible and who could have predicted that scoreline ?

Well played Derchawat Poomjaeng on an excellent Crucible debut win !

Not me, that's for sure! I think pretty much all my tips have fallen at the first hurdle lol.

That was absolutely fantastic. What a performance. 'Call me Jack' is a star in the making - on and off the table.

Poomjaeng stuns Maguire :

Snooker is a funny old game you know.

Well one minute you are rooting for the favourite and the next thing you hope that the underdog comes through !

That's it exactly. You really can't beat the tension of a close match like that, particularly when you *know* the underdog is going to fall at the final hurdle, but doesn't, somehow managing to hold himself together despite the mounting pressure.

It's claustrophobic as hell, and pure drama. The championships have finally spluttered into life.

Carter books O'Sullivan date at Crucible

It's almost 1 year since these 2 served up the World Final and I was thinking back to around this time last year !

Well as I was sitting typing away this time last year my son was due off to OZ and there was mad parties galore. So my son ran outta OZ $ & returned for a few weeks ago but he is off to the Isle of Arran for new adventures.

Just like this time last year I'm eating a lot of salad stuffs but this time around I would expect Ali Carter to make things a lot tougher for Ronnie O'Sullivan but I reckon that Ronnie will get through.

For all who are touting Ronnie O'Sullivan, Snooker Scene blog notes:

The last player to defend the world title was Stephen Hendry in 1996. The last defending champion to get past the quarter-finals was O'Sullivan himself - 11 years ago.

It's not us Scaramouche.It's The BBC & Da Bookie's!

It was all over before it started if you listened to Auntie Beeb & the bookies but Snooker isn't like that & Ali Carter will be fired up for revenge in Ronnie's next match on saturday !:wink::grin:
