Ding put in a serious shift on the table last night.
If only the USA was bigger into this game...
... There would be a greater appreciation for ability of these guys!

I missed this session. That was an amazing first frame.

They have a full house watching live when each session is 4-5hrs?

A lot of fan interest when probably only 5% of them play snookers?

We have 100K+(?) league players and we cant even get 400 streamers to pay $15 to watch a U.S pool match.

Because snooker is a better cue sport, and is more enjoyable for the spectator. I guarantee that 90% or more of people that say they'd rather watch pool have probably never in their lives watched an entire snooker match.

Part of the reason it's more enjoyable is that unlike pool, the games don't all blend together. Also if you look at the ratio of offense to defense and compare it to US pool games, it's easy to see that snooker has the most even distribution. The only game that's close is one pocket. But it's still far less enjoyable for spectators.

8/9/10 ball - 90 offense / 10 defense
14.1 - 85 offense / 15 defense
One Pocket - 30 offense / 70 defense
Snooker - 60 offense / 40 defense

I agree wth you but at the same time prefer watching pool. I could watch it all day every day if I had the time. This is because it's the game I play, don't have enough time to play to become really good, play now and again for 6 hours serious and also often socially with a beer or two or sometimes ten. However, snooker is much more interesting to watch. It is a better cue sport but becoming good at it is tough for those that don't devote buckets of time to it or have insane natural talent and practice a bit. For us mere mortals pool is actually a better game.

Having said all that, any serious pool player, pro or amateur/semi-pro or purely recreational who says they don't want to watch snooker is first of all being arrogant and unadventurous and second of all probably over-rates their own ability at cue sports.

I'm interested this year because Facebook has made it more accessible, Ding has a chance to make history and John Higgins is the old guy.

I've watched thousands of hours at snooker, especially when Europe. I enjoy it, but I would rather watch 8-ball, banks or one-pocket. Snooker strategy doesn't excite me. I see the same 85% offense, not 60%, in the televised matches.

Snooker is a great game. It's just not some better game than what it is. It doesn't speak to the American mentality. Neither does 3c anymore.
