The first rebroadcast of the 2004 World Summit of Pool will be on ESPN2 this Monday night (12/20/04) from 9:00pm - 12:am EST.

Featured players include Santos Sambajon, Mike Davis, Danny Harriman, and Earl Strickland. The first hour is the classic Harriman vs Strickland match which produced "the shot of the decade" according to color commentator Jim Wych. Was it luck; or all skill? Don't forget to set the VCRs and Tivos!

That shot was 99.9% luck. Poor Earl...never gets any rolls...

i've seen that game and that was nothing short of the acclamations given to it. i think that shot of strickland was more of luck than skill. i doubt that he intended to pocket the 9. i suspect that he only wanted to play safe. but supposing he did not pocket the 9, i think he would have left a tough shot at 2 as it and the cb would have landed at the both ends of the table. i do not mean to take away anything from earl; as the clichè goes, the more i practice the luckier i get. lucky rolls go to great players.

Boy, you should have seen the nine I crapped in today in my regular Sunday game with my friend Billy. If Jimmy Wych was there, he'd have probably offered me at least $1,000 for my autograph. Too bad, I could have used the money.

did you have that game taped?

Hey, Countess, hope you're well. Unfortunately, the tape wasn't running, an expensive mistake on my part. Lesson learned!

Does anyone else scream at the TV when Mitch goes off on a 5 minute description of how "unique" the venue is how it is such a historic place and "look they still buy train tickets here like they did 50 yrs ago", check out the architecture in this building and the beautiful chandiliers-BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. Then- "DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS, WE"VE SKIPPED 3 GAMES OF COVERAGE"

Thank-you ESPN for some pool coverage(better than none at all) but you need someone directing this coverage who knows what pool players want to see (hint: it's the POOL STUPID!)

You've nailed that one!!! Thank God for remote controllers.

The reason that three games were skipped during the Strickland / Harriman match was because the college basketball game between Princeton and Temple ran eight minutes into our time. In fact, it was almost worse. With 7.9 seconds to go Princeton was down by two. The Princeton guard drove the length of the court and shot a lay-up that the Temple player blocked after the ball hit the backboard and with the ball on the way down. An OBVIUOS goaltending. Just a horrible, horrible call. I can only speculate that the ref ran wanted to see the Strickland / Harriman match because if he had made the correct call the game goes into overtime and we miss at least half of the match.
