World Ten Ball: The Americans are paid - but not top 3 yet...

Since there was a new thread about Americans being paid for this tournament on Friday, I thought the fact that Darren Appleton (100 k), Chia Ching Wu (40 k) and Niels Feijen (25 k) are still waiting for Raya to pay the pricemoney deserves a new thread.

Perhaps people read the thread on Friday, and believes that everything is now ok.

Well, it ain't so yet...

First Raya said payment should happen within 2 weeks after the end of the tournament. The tournament finished 1 month ago.

Then they told Pulpul, the Filipino who finished 4th, that the payment would be on the 24th of October. They failed to do so.

Then they told all the players that the payment should be done the 30th and the 31st of October. Then Raya contacted AZBilliards with a noticiation saying that all Americans are paid. Mike and Jerry called the Americans and got it confirmed. This was on Friday.

Now people from Taipei (Chia Ching Wu) and Hong Kong (Lee Chenman) are still waiting for payment, and they are in the same time-zone as Manila. Darren Appleton and Niels Feijen haven't received the money today, Monday, and now the banks are closing up in Europe...

Why should the payment reach USA on Friday, the same day they transferred, but not to Europe, Taipei and Hong Kong a few days after they said they would pay?

My guess is that the Americans got paid because Yen knew that AZBilliards would publish an article about it, and that would buy Raya some time. Pulpul and the Filipinos got paid simply becaues the newspapers in Manila started to ask a lot of questions.

I believe that Yen is still looking for money to pay the rest, and that there is more to this story than we have heard yet...

I hope I am wrong, and that Darren can confirm payment tomorrow...

Like I said in the other thread Roy, the payment made was "Street Magic"! Azb bosses are just being used by Yen and co. With or without their consent, I don't know.

my sentiments also, roy. hope someone clears this up. this is getting to be like the IPT all over again in every way.....

Jasmin Ouschan just confirmed that she has not received payment yet. She said that they told her that they would transfer the money the 30th or the 31st of October.

I guess the deadline for receiving money should be Tuesday. Monday is already gone in Europe and Asia.

If no money is received by Tuesday the players should start with legal actions against Raya/Yen/WPA, imo

They should start tooting airhorns just like what Pulpul and the Americans did for them to heard by Yen. I hope all's well that ends well come Tuesday...

Well, we'll see what happens next.

I am pretty sure that Mike will publish an article, or even an interview about this, if Darren has not received payment tomorrow. How can they not make an article about it, when they did publish that the Americans got paid?

Strange though, that Yen sent a notification to AZ stating that all Americans got paid. Why did he write Americans, instead of just stating that ALL got paid? Could it be that he simply told the truth, and wouldn't be caught in another lie? "I have paid all the Americans. Yes, I know I haven't paid the rest, but as I said, I have paid all the Americans"

Question is "Was it his idea to make such a declaration?" This statement should have been questioned the moment it was submitted. Right? I'm starting to smell conivance. Sorry if that's how I feel about that announcement considering other factors demonstrated here in the forums.

to quote the article...
WTBC Has Paid All Americans

AZBilliards this morning questioned the American participants in the WTBC and all who have checked with their banks now report that they have been paid in full. This ends two weeks of speculation and innuendo surrounding the event and it is the hope of AZBilliards that everyone involved can now congratulate the participants and organizers of this event and begin making plans to make the event bigger and better next year.

It is now time to put aside the political differences that attempted to tear this event asunder and allow all who would contribute to the success of this and all events to continue to provide the players of the world a stage upon which to perform and earn a living.

the statements i think was made assuming that all the players were paid, not just americans. but as we all know as of this posting not all have been paid, even the champion. the announcement is unnecessary, as a medium to announce and spread news about the pool community, AZB should have verified first if foreign players got paid also before making the above statements.
