worth trying to replace the cloth myself?

Hi,

I own an 8 foot bar box that has 30+ year old cloth and rails on it. I would like to have it replaced but have a limited budget. I was thinking about replacing it myself with a couple friends to help. I am just wondering if it is worth trying myself or am I likely to ruin the cloth and rails?

Thanks,

Chris

I've replaced non Simonis table cloth before. Wasn't hard. If I had to do it again, I would send out the rails.

how do you plan to calibrate the rails to be sure they are set at the correct heigth and all match? In the past, so called professionals have not done this correctly for me and it has taken several trips and different mechanics to get it right. A good table mechanic is worth his weight.

I hadn't thought about that. I expected if they are flush now I should just be able to make them flush when putting them back on. Good point

You can buy bed cloth and new rails already covered from a few vendors online
This gives you a matching set of rails so the critical part would be getting
the rail nose height right. Bed cloth is not too difficult for a DIYer.
