Would you call a foul on yourself? Would you turn your self into the police? In basketball or baseball would give up the ball and say you stepped over the line?
Seriously in pool I do as I don’t not play for cash or blood.

Seriously in pool I most likely would as I do not play for cash.
I've never been a huge bettor but i always tried to keep everything on the square. Guys i knew that had a track-record of 'rules ambivalence' i tried to stay clear of.

did you vote?

, I'd die before I turn myself into the police. Two very different things imo.

Exactly. "Hey honey i just went 5mph over. You better call 911 and turn me in" ;)

I actually don’t believe either of you.

If you inadvertently ran a stop sign and hit a child, I’m willing to bet that you’d be on the phone to 911 almost before the car came to a complete stop…

Here is an example from the snooker world.

To get a "no" answer you will need to visit a bar not azbilliards LOL Part of the basic rules of the game is whithout a ref at the table, both players are the ref. And even with a ref there are basic human ideas of proper conduct that will have most players calling a foul on themselves even if the ref missed it, if they were sure it was a foul.

In pool - always. In big competitive trap shooting - sometimes - there is always a scorer and they can see a chip off a target that I did not see. Most time I ask to verify that they saw a chip. HOWEVER, sometimes they call a loss even though I swear I saw a chip. In those cases you can ask people you were shooting with if they saw a chip, but a lot of times guys would say that they weren't looking. If I feel I was "cheated" in an event, I don't call a loss on myself in that event if I think I missed so as to "break even." :)

what do all the other sports do. does a football player tell the ref he stepped over the line or the quarterback say he made a bad pass and point it out.
does the tennis pro correct the linesman and tell him the shot was out.
does a basketball player call a penalty on himself.

golfers do as the tv is on them and they make most from endorsements so they cant jeopardize that.

if playing pool and your opponent doesnt bother to pay attention are you suppose to do it for him.
is it considered cheating not to call one on yourself. that is the main thought.

if you are on two fouls do you remind your opponent to tell you. and if he forgets do you call the third one on yourself.
what if the opponent doesnt call a ball frozen. do you point it out or play the shot your way.
where do you draw your personal line.

Unlike most sports, who are told to leave it to the ref, in pool we usually have no ref. In the case of no ref I call all fouls on myself, whatever they may be.
