I attended this tournament at the Hard Rock Casino and it was awesome.
This was the first professional tournament I have attended. I got to play nine ball with Jennifer Baretta, Vivian Villareal, and Karen Corr in the pro am. I beat Jennifer and Vivian in 1 game each. I couldn't believe it.
Other celebrities there was Daunte Cullpepper, Michael Irvin, Corey Deuel, Johnnie Archer, Gabe Owen, and Rodney Morris.
It was really fun and I hope to be able to attend more tournaments. I will probably see myself on ESPN tommorrow because I had VIP seats. I hope to go to a mens tournament very soon now that I have experienced the action.
After the tournament on Saturday night we were itching to play pool and we got a call from Ted Harris. Ted was going to be at Hollywood Billiards to drop off Corey Deuel's cues which he was working on. I needed Ted to fix my 314 shaft because it got dinged in a pool hall the night before.
Corey had 2 identical Jacoby cues with 314 shafts which Ted had worked on for him. I figured if Ted was good enough to work on Corey's cues he could work on mine also. We watched Corey practice on a 12 foot billiard table for awhile.
Then we drove Ted over to his shop on Dixie Hwy to fix my shaft. Ted was a really nice guy and so was his wife. He sanded and cleaned my shaft on his lathe and the dings came right out. I would love to buy one of Ted's ' cues but did not have the money at the time, and he did not have any finished cues available.
Ted got a really bad wrap online. Because he wasn't able to respond to some customers emails due to a hurricane that caused him to loose power for a couple of weeks last year. But I can attest to the fact that he is a really honest guy. I would also love to own one of his custom cues if I ever have a chance to but one.
Anyway if anyone can give any feedback on which tournaments that would be worth attending in the future please let me know. I'm hooked !!!
