WPBA Iron City final day

Can we prevent skill related nicknames for lower skilled players? There’s a Fargo 509 in this tournament going by the nickname “Dead Shot” if you would only be the 2nd best player on my APA team you don’t get to have a nickname like that.

Finals are on now, looks like a single race to 10. Wei has gotten the initial best of it so far but still only 3-1.

I’m surprised at the lack of interest in this tournament. 8-6 Wei at the moment.

Wow, what a combination by Allison to win!! She won 10-9 coming from (IIRC) down 7-3.
I was a bit surprised when she went for that ball in hand combo on the 9 in the hill/hill game when she had what looked to be a pretty routine ball in hand 6 ball runout. I assume she felt very confident she could make it, although it almost rattled.

I’m not sure how long it’s been since Allison has won on the WPBA tour, but that’s quite an accomplishment after what is now close to 30 years from her first WPBA title and 40 years since her first world snooker title.

The glasses Allison is wearing this year may be bad news for her WPBA opponents. It’ll be interesting to see how well she can perform in the world championship events against the strong Asian players. At her age, her window for winning another world title is closing, but I think she has a realistic shot at doing it and I wouldn’t bet against her!

I was shocked she went for the combo rather than going for the runout. Props to her for pulling it off.

it was brought up that both players in the final were likely tired..maybe ally just wanted to be done with it?
well done to her for coming out on top of a competitive field, I enjoyed watching throughout the weekend
