WPBA Players

It's nice to see a few of the women from the WPBA playing. I'm not positive, but I thought they didn't approve of this. Can someone help me out here.

The "organization" the WPBA does not sanction the DCC because of the gambling rep. The players I believe are free to play there but not as "representatives " of the WPBA. I think that's how it works.

What's the problem here? I do not understand what you are trying to say.

Entry fee in a WPBA event is $500. 64 Players/Event.

Please advise me of any WPBA Player that is not looking for a profit from their investment upon entering a WPBA event.

What is the differience?

I'm not sure this is related, but just how much does the WPBA pay ESPN to run their events on TV? And what percentage of the player'sr earning do they have to contribute for this?

Oh and I saw jennette shoot pretty well in 8-ball against Efren during the AZ Party. I don't think I have ever seen her shoot that good. I like the whole mixing it up thing.

Lamar,

I think he was referring to the mixup/confusion last year when the lady players thought the WPBA didn't want them attending DCC. It was resolved in a WPBA meeting later I believe (a misunderstanding).

Last year the the control freak-WPBA told them they couldn't play at the DCC...Sunday night at the DCC I was talking to Sarah and I asked her what's up this year and she told me that the WPBA got so much criticism for their attitude about it that they relented and said the women could play in it this year.

Not sure that that's how it works. Mitch Laurance was producing the coverage. Not sure who pays who.
The WPBA has a link on their site for contract proposals for several positions right now. Maybe TV too?

If you read my first post on this thread, I think that covers the WPBA position. The players can go but NOT as representatives of the WPBA. The organization does not sanction gambling....especially when they don't get a sanctioning fee and no womens events are scheduled. The players understand, I think:confused: ......it shouldn't be an issue since the WPBA isn't trying to pull what the WPA tried with the IPT(a shakedown).

I did read your first post - was I supposed to consider you the definitive voice ?

Contrary to what you said...I talked to Sarah last year as well and she told me that the WPBA didn't want them to play at that 2005 DCC in any capacity - WPBA REPRESENTATIVES OR NOT.

this is a joke. The WPBA tourneys take place in casinos. How can they be against gambling for their members in pool but ok on a roulette table.

Did any of the WPBA players ...

cash besides Jeanette. I haven't noticed
any of their names in payouts. Of course,
they could have in mini's.

No, not the definative voice. But then again, if the WPBA is so "heavy handed" how is it the players can now go to DCC? Did they go to the headquarters and body slam the members of the board and threaten them? I don't think so. It's an organization setup to promote womens billiards, it has set up standards (dress, conduct, etc), it is RUN BY THE PLAYERS, the players make the changes in regard to organizational standards. So who is this "heavy handed WPBA", the players who complained got their way....they modified that standard as regards the DCC. If someone doesn't get their way on something and just can't accept that then they can always leave (it's happened before)..........I don't see anybody leaving! It's how the WPBA is setup....the players do have a voice, but it's majority and presidental (the wpba president is elected by majority rule also) rule. JMHO

The WPBA in the past did not allow their players to play in the DCC. Last year, they sent a representative to check it out. Even so, there have been WPBA players in the event probably every year. Sarah Rousey finished top 20 in the 9-ball last year or the year before.

Anyway, since there were several high profile WPBA players there, and Peg Ledman was there, I think we can assume that the "ban" has been lifted or at least relieved somewhat.

I think it was just an image thing, which has been the bane of our sport.

Vivian was in the banks pretty late, so I assumed she did.
