just finished watching the WPBA U.S. Open final from 2-3 years ago when Ga Young Kim defeated Karen Corr in the rematch of the previous year. what caught my eye was the stuff they handed to Karen and Ga Young at the end. Ga's looked like a plate or something, then they gave her something that looked like it was meant for the plate to rest on it, but she couldnt figure out what to do with it, so she walked over and set it down.

anyway, i was wondering about those so-called "Trophies" they pass out at the conclusion of the WPBA events. are those things actually worth some money? or are they just for looks? most of the hardware they pass out looks like just some memento of the place that was hosting the tournament.

just wonder why they wouldnt hand out a nice big trophy or two instead of glass or a plate.
anybody know? SJM perhaps?

Most of the trophies presented to the winners at WPBA events are real, and, as you suggest, are worth quite a bit.

I would think that most of these ladies have a room full of tacky trophies. I know I'm only a league player and I have more than I can keep. Honestly, normal trophies don't have a lot of value.

When you see the glass plates and vases, they are real crystal and worth a fair amount of money. Most of the ladies really like the crystal trophies.

Other trophies are representative of the sponsors, like the dream catchers from the indian tribe owners of one of the tournament sites or the guitar trophies from the Hard Rock. I have no idea of the value of these trophies.

BTW, it is not only the ladies who like the crystal trophies. I have seen some of the big burly men who have really liked the beautiful crystal trophies given to them at Valley Forge by Allen and Dawn Hopkins.
