WPBL business model

Not sure if this has been talked about, if so please direct me to that thread. Also I apologize in advance if this seems negative in any way.

Does anyone have any idea if there was much market research done on PPV pool? Just doesn't seem like its a business model that is going to generate new fans. Who's going to pay to watch pool....pool players....and only a fraction of them at that. Why would anyone who isn't a pool fan want to spend money to watch something they don't know anything about? What's the incentive?

Bonus ball......for one it sounds like a lotto pick number game like the mega ball or powerball. Just sounds cheap and cheesy right out the gate. Not to mention pretty much no one will even know what the hell bonus ball is. Even if by chance it took off in popularity.....people wouldn't be able to go play it themselves until pool halls reinvested money into acquiring the new style set of balls, which would likely be pretty far off as owners aren't just going to buy balls for a game they perceive may very well be dead in the not to distant future.

You're trying to get people to pay to watch AND introducing an entirely new game.

On a much smaller note, I don't think its the right move to be so honest and up front about the contractor fraud. While I appreciate their honesty in the matter, pool already hasn't had the cleanest history and even though they were victims of fraud, people are just going to associate the negative word fraud and pool together. I think it would have been a much better idea to just site logistical issues as a hold up. Again, not a huge deal, but doesn't help either IMO.

Is it just me or does this seem like a very niche market at best?
