Yeh, I got star as well. I got cable so there is 3 star sports channels..and if it aint on the first one ,its always on the second one.

For your information guys, a good match has to be the match between Alex Pagulayan and i think some European guy..great match.

If anyone wants to pay for a recording let me know and maybe i can start using my wated time to make some bucks recording it.

Regards.
TheFish,

Send me an email at daflipside@sbcglobal.net and we can discuss more about price, etc. I'm really interested to see Reyes, Bustamante, Pagulayan and the rest of the Philippine team in action. Hope to hear from you soon.

Nice stats from Mr. Colenso. Really interesting way at looking at things from a geographic point of view. Got any bold predictions as to what country the eventual champion will come from?

Whoa! Lots of upsets...

Immonen, Bustamante, Gallego, Hohmann (the biggest upset of them all 9-zip!!!), Kawabata... How many upsets do you get per day? I was stunned when I woke up to check the results on the Net. By the way, sjm, what did I tell you about Majid over Kawabata? The man is on fire. ;) Apparently Ortmann was playing brilliantly too, and could of taken it from Efren anytime. Just goes to show how tough it is to beat the man.

As for the last 16, there are only two easy matches: Pagulayan over Huang, and Strickland over Kuo. On tougher matches, I'll take Archer over Bergendorff, Chamat over Schober, and Reyes over Manalo by about 3 matches (Bata is going to let off his steam).

Now for the upsets: I'll take Kang over Luat and Chang over Orcollo (a long shot pick, I realize). Now, as for Majid, I don't think he is actually going to get past Chao (though they'd rather be careful!) because he is Taiwanese, and nobody beats the Taiwanese!

Hey Lewdo26,
The Hohmann match was actually 9-1. You have to give him atleast that considering he spent most of the match in the chair and really only got to the table to respond to safteys. He didnt lose the match in my opinion, the other guy just smoked the table. Hard to compete with that. The match I really loved hearing about was the Strickland match. Down 4-0 and coming back to tie it twice and then pull away. That is some cool headed pool playing, maybe he isnt the hot head everyone makes him out to be.

Winner's break or alternate breaks???

This raises the question, knudsenjj, should the WPC be held with winner's break or alternate breaks, as in the BCA format? I'll go with alternate breaks because at this level winner's break might mean that one of the players doesn't get to shoot, as was the case with the 2003 world champion yesterday.

Taiwan already a winner

This has been a tournament of upsets. The other conclusion to be made is that playing in front of the home crowd is definitely a boost rather than a pressure. How else can we explain the trio Kang, Kuo, Chang making it this far against such stiff competition? Anyways, I might just as well stick my neck out and make the prediction that the 2004 WPC is Chao's. My apologies to the great Archer but it is going to be tough handling the Taiwanese crowd in a Chao v Archer final.
Book me up:
Chao over Pagulayan
Kang over Kuo
Manalo over Chamat
Archer over Chang
