There is a thread on this forum that is supposed to be about the players not getting paid from last Decembers fiasco tournament. The players have done little or nothing legally to try to get paid. Let it go, move on.
I don't go to USPPA events or play in any of them and I haven't for years.
One: Tony acted like a tyrant. When I played at Fast Eddies, he refused to sanction tournaments at Eddies because Dick, the owner, told the truth about Tony on a thread.
2: Tony reneged his payment of a bonus
3. Sandbaggers overran the tournaments
4. Yearly fee
I could go on. I was really glad when Bob and Lulu started their tournaments. It seems to be a better handicapping system. They were promoting pool. They are nice guys.
Having a tournament in Reno is not the point. If they have one, good, I hope it is a success. If the right tournament is put on, the players will come. DCC, CA one pocket, etc...no matter where it is. Using the failed USPPA as a connection to promote a new tournament is asking for trouble.
Tony is a great promoter as long as he is not the face guy. He has always had great ideas, just doing the whole thing by himself is beyond his Peter Principal. But if you are intent of tying your tournament to the USPPA, get Tony to help you. (That is a joke entirely, tough to be sarcastic in writing.)
Your going to promote a tournament Bob? Good luck. No matter where you have it, I hope it succeeds. Have in Reno or San Francisco or anywhere you can get enough tables and interest. There is no sensible reason to want to attract the negative aspects of your tournament from the years of mismanagement of the USPPA. As long as there is any tie to the failed USPPA, I will see you only at the DCC or your tournament in Ca Billiards.
