WPS 10-Ball Cross Bracketing Issues

There are some strange things going on with these brackets. 16 players remain as of Saturday morning. 8 players are undefeated and 8 players have 1 loss. For some reason, they have decided to move all of the 8 players with 1 loss back into the winners side bracket prior to finishing the winner’s side playoff for the hotseat.

By doing this, we’re seeing rematches take place early on. For example, James Aranas and Petri Makkonen played each other two matches ago and now they’re scheduled to play again. That’s not fair. What if James and Petri are the best and second best players in the tournament? Shouldn’t they have the opportunity to beat everyone else and meet in the finals to finish 1st/2nd? Rematches should never take place until the rest of the bracket has been eliminated.

Final 16 single elim, race to 13. Sorta like the international tournaments, which is usually final 64 single elim.

Didn't the World 9ball go by this same format? It is a little odd but no one seems to mind to much.

In this format double elimination gives the best players the best chance to get to the business end. From there it’s single elimination and away we go. Who played who previously in this tournament, qualifiers or in 1862 is irrelevant.
