Wrap on my New Viking has become loose, how can I fix it.

I retired my vintage Viking I bought back in the late 70's. It had a 11.5 tip and my eyes aren't what they used to be and I thought a 13mm tip might help me on long shots. The wrap on it is just like it was back in the 70s, solid as a rock.

A month ago a bought another Viking. It was a dicontinued model but never used ,still had the price sticker on it and sold as NEW. I have used it about a month and about 1-2 inches of the wrap threads have become loose about where I grip it. Is there anyway to fix this. Or maybe that area of wrap can be shrunk somehow to pull the thread back tight.

No threads are cut, its like the threads where I grip stretched some how and the thread loops out, remindes me of a casting reels backlash. Added a photo of it.

How old is the cue? if it is not that old contact Viking they may fix it free.

Other wise depending upon where you are located it will cost between $40 and $60 to have a new wrap put on the cue by a Cue maker or Repairman.

Happy New Year

Like I said it was new never used, its a F87 discontinued a couple years back. The sticker price on it said $250 but I didn't pay that much, so its not an expensive cue like my vintage Viking. I think calling Viking probably will be the best thing to do and talk to them. I just thought there might be a fix someone new about instead of re-wraping it. The thread must have stretched somehow. Are wraps glued underneath, what holds them on.

Wraps are glued on to the cues handle, when I wrap cues I use Elmers Glue, but any White Glue that dries clear will work pretty well. There really is no easy fix, because the wrap must be removed, replaced and then pressed. The price of the linen is not expensive at all, what about 90% of the cost consistes of is the labor, and it is worth every penny spent because there is a hugh differance between a professionally installed wrap and just a wrap.

Take Care

wrap

same thing as happen to me over the years from screwing/unscrewing the cue joint tight....try not to hold it at the wrap while screwing/unscrewing cue together.......hold it at the forearm....
