Wrap, or no wrap? What's your Favorite Kind Wrap?

For a long time I used nothing but linen wraps when playing pool (especially Cortland wraps), though now I really love smooth leather wraps (kangaroo being my favorite). Kangaroo is a weee bit tacky and never gets slick over extended times as a wrapless cue does (for me personally).

I've always liked wrapless, but for my last cue I went with Predator's Leather Luxe+ wrap and do like it. Never liked the linen wraps at all.

I've always played Irish Linen. I bought the Predator I have now because it was the least expensive one they had with a linen wrap. That being said, I miss the high quality linen on my old Tim Scruggs, which I retired earlier this year.

My break cue has a rubberized wrap: I like the feeling when I'm breaking, but not sure how I would like it as a player.

I have tried them all but stacked and Cork. I love the look of well pressed old school white w/green, brown spec or sleek solid black linen.

I do like Leather. I like the Look of a well done real Bull hide Leather wrap on the right cue. Feels killer.

I have played with a stacked wrap and it was slick and looked classy. I will have a stacked wrap one day for sure. Doubt I will go for the 'treatment' like the OP's.

I have never played with 'Cork' yet. It was a trend sometime ago but I never tried, had one installed or played with a cue with a cork wrap. Looked kind of nice on certain cues I have seen. But you do not see cork anymore. A trend ?

I really have no preference as far as play if the cue feels good. I would say I like them all.

Good Night,

I agree with most of your statements.

When Guido built my Cue... he asked if he could use Cork... duh, I said OK,

I really like the feel & the fact that it is easily cleaned. I'm a Corker now...

I hate wrap of any kind.
Since I went wrapless - about two years ago - I simply can't play with a wrap.
Could never say that about the wrapless while I was playing with wrap.
Once you get used to your hand staying where you put it, it's a very secure feeling and I play better the more secure I am.
Could care less about look and all that but I also like the look of wrapless.
Some makers put beautiful woods there.
It's also zero maintenance.

In this order:

1. Wrapless
2. Stacked Leather
3. Leather
4. Linen.

I've never liked linen though it looks very good. Give me a nice ebony or figured wood handle or a full splice wrapless and I go back in time to being an 8 year old kid finding a brand new 19 oz house cue on the wall and falling in love with a game more so than my first girlfriend. I hid that cue behind the Galaga arcade game for years. Shit I miss playing.
