Richard does incredible work. I love the plain but elegant style. Everytime I see one a little part of my brain screams "Jerry Franklin lives". Tell me...since I've only held a couple of Bluegrass cues...hows the taper. I remember thinking that the ones I held were almost billiard cue like. Seems to start thin & get very thick fast. Is that his taper...or did I see bad used examples.
Funny, once I had a guy with a sneaky-pete that he was swearing was a SW or David K. Brown collars, brass pin, flat bumper...looked very old & used. The entire room was gathering around swearing it was the earliest SW/D.K. on record...until I pulled the bumper out...and with EXCELLENT eyes, in the brightest of lights...you could see where it said "Blue Grass Cues" hand written into the epoxy over the weight bolt. Those bunch of rocket scientist said..."and damn, we thought you had something there". LOL!!!

Excellent wood on that birdseye cue. I always think it's great when you find even a simple a stick from a good maker that has extraordinary wood.

I saw that cue during production and it looks even better in real life. The wood Richard uses is awesome and you would be hard pressed to find better choices of woods than in a Blue Grass Cue. I'm amazed every time I step into his shop. I still want his personal wrapless cue that is very similar to this one. All I can say is WOW!

not really...at least for both of my cues the taper doesn't really get thick that fast :)
