Wraps and sweaty hands

I did a forum search on this subject and I found a good amount of advice for keeping your hands from sweating. Anhydrol Forte at your local pharmacist seems to be somewhat extreme. The advice to keep washing your hands or use some kind of powder is general knowledge but good advice none theless. However, I was wondering if there is a type of wrap that would either be more comfortable for the heavy sweater or by it's nature make your hands sweat less.

I actually don't realize that my hands are really sweaty untill my linen wrap starts to be a bit tacky. Even if I go to wash my hands, my wrap is still a bit sticky. Wrapless cues are easier to clean in that all I have to do is wipe it and my hands, however, I have to do this very frequently because the finish does not let your skin breathe. I've never tried a leather, lizard, cork, etc wrap. I was wondering if any WRAPS (not powders etc) breathed better or were more comfortable than linen.

Again not that washing is a bad idea, I'm looking for a wrap option that would further be more helpful.

I keep a hand towel in my case to keep my shaft and hands clean after playing on public tables. I've never had much of a problem with sweaty palms, but using a towel would probably serve the same purpose for you. Wiping down with the towel also gives a moment's pause between shots, much like being allowed the time to chalk between them does.

that's a pretty good idea too. I think if I get into the habit of wiping down my cue between games it'll also get to dry my hands with the same towel.

Just thought of another, easier question to ask. For those of you who switched from linen to leather wraps, do you think they are more/less comfortable for sweaty hands.

Actually the best way I have found to deal with this problem is to carry a small container of hand sanitizer in my cue case, I like Purell, but Germ-X works as well. The active ingredient is Ethyl Alchohol so it dries your hand up nice, and kills germs:D

Just some tips I picked up from mild OCD;)

I have not had this problem recently but used to and have also had it when playing golf.

Believe it or not, putting some underarm deodorant on your palms can help. I used to use Menne Speedstick

I have the same problem at times, and it gets worse as the bet increases!:D I use Irish Linen, because of the comfort, but I like it a little rougher, not pressed to a glass finish. I like the look of the wrap less cues, but don't like when the grip gets slippery.

I was thinking about trying a cork wrap like the cues back in the day. Anyone know who does a nice cork wrap, or where I can get the material? I've done maybe 8 leather wraps in my day, 3 of which I know are still in use after about 10 years. Not bad for a plumber;)

Pet Peeve of mine ....

My hands stay warm and dry all the time, so I am not in that category, BUT
the one thing I HATE is shaking hands with a guy after the match, and his hands are cold and clamy (wet). FOR PETE SAKES, have the decency to wipe your hands on a towel or your pants BEFORE shaking hands with your opponent if you have a hand problem.

You know what they say if your hands don't sweat when playing pool.............you are not betting enough :-)

I tried a leather wrapped cue once but never liked the feel of it. As far as sweaty palms go, I found it was worse but again, I don't really find I have much of a problem with it.

Regarding Snapshot9's comment about having the decency to wipe your hands down I must agree. I don't single anyone out, I am only replying in kind. It's also part of (referring to bznsharkie) being a little OC or festidious about having clean hands. It's just one of those things I do and appreciate from my opponents.
