It may alter the weight a couple of grams one way or the other, but it should have no real noticeable effect on overall weight or balance.
Not anything noticeable from my experience.
Depends on the thickness of leather you use. After removing the linen
the wrap groove needs to be deeper so the leather lays flush and
doesn't stick up higher on the handle. It will alter it a bit, but if you like the
feel of leather then do it. Make sure you go to somebody that can do it

Many wrap leathers used today are about the same thickness as linen, so the groove does not need to be altered with those wraps.
As a general rule, it's my understanding it tends to be a couple grams difference on the plus side when you compare the leather material required
with the identical amount of linen line needed. However, it the cue-maker had to tool the wrap area so that the leather would lay flush and completely
even, the removal of wood material weight would admittedly offset the weight difference between the leather and linen material used for wrapping the
cue.........so in a long winded manner of writing what might otherwise should have been a short answer.........No.....any weight difference should be
minimal since 28.375 grams = 1 Ounce.
