he needs to make a drill box to hold the veneers tight, then use a step drill.

i glue them up like reg veneers with titebond. then epoxy then to my phenolic. then when dry i chuck up the phenolic and drill and bore out the middle. knock the square edges off and slide on to cue... taper

Dave, i never thoguht of that. I am afraid I am doing it the hard way. I clamp up the veneer on my taig cnc and cut them out with a 1/32 end mill. Darn thing is once I get the size correct, I can run as many as I want with scrap veneer.

not the best pic but this is how i made this. i glued a set of veneers to the ivory ring and a set of veneers to the ebony ring bored the middle and slid the on. very easy. i think i accually used super glue for a fast bond this time then epoxied the rings onto the tennon after i bored it out
