Mid America is the way to go. I use the professional cue repair lathe and like it. I'm sure the basic is fine for what you want to do. Todd Schultz is an awesome guy to work with. He will also answer you questions and guide you in using your lathe.
Either a Mid America or Hightower, you can't go wrong with either machine or either owner...Chris and Todd are both outstanding guys and backup their products.
