I'm looking for a used slim 1/2 HP motor to run my lathe. It has an 1/8 Hp motor from a Taig lathe and it won't handle the larger headstock. Any brackets or ideas on how to mount the motor so it will slide with the headstock would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help. Ron

This is what I'm working with:

Some guys opt to use these http://www.pennstateind.com/store/TCLVSKIT.html I know you said used but these are only like $120.00 for the motor and controller. Not sure what your working with on the back of your headstock far as a bracket would go.

That is actually perfect! That's what I see on alot of lathes and was wondering where you could get just the motor and controller. Do they make a bracket or should I get a machine shop to fashion one? Thank you for the link. Ron

Still would like a used on to save a little dough before Christmas. If not, i'll go with this after Christmas.

Those are perfect! Do you make those for sale or are they made just for you? Thanks for the ideas.

I made an extra one that I am not going to use in the near future

So if you get your Pennstate motor I have no problem selling the brackets
