WTB: non-eBay Dale Perry

The Clever Set

I'm looking for a like new or excellent, non-eBay older Dale Perry cue, preferably with two shafts and a Uni-Loc joint. A plain jane cue is OK, especially if it's ebony, as long as it's in great condition. I'm not interested in eBay DPs at all, meaning I'm not interested in something like he's selling on eBay these days.

I'll pay a fair price, but I'm also aware of the resale value of Dale's cues these days.

PM me if you've got something you'd like to part with.

Thanks,
Scott

Id?

Just for my own edification could you explain how to determine a "non Ebay DP"?

Thanks

In general, almost anything with a Uni-Loc joint is a non-eBay Dale Perry.

In addition to the Unil-Loc joint, non-eBay Dale Perry cues have more than 4 points, have smaller radius CNC work, have more ornate ring work, leather wraps, etc.

An "eBay Dale Perry" doesn't actually have to be purchased off of eBay. Any cue with the eBay template or look, (wide radius CNC work, simplistic, repetitive designs, etc.), is an eBay Dale Perry. Dale can still make a beautiful cue and there are nice examples out there of fine recent DP cues, and that's what I'm looking for.

There is a guy local here that has 3 of his cues for sale.

I will look at the joint and get back to you.

you know alot of people dont like his cues..i had a dp-412 i think it was all wood with dice in the butt cap.i kick myself in the ass evey time i go play cuz that hit (for me ) so dam good...i sold it cuz i had a cue made that i sold a month after i got it... wish i never sold that cue...good luck...

His cues do hit well. It's funny, I used to know a guy who bought a beautiful DP in '97 or '98 and really liked the cue except for the Uni-Loc joint. Weird how things change.

Dale Perry Available, 90's Kingwood

Dp from 90's, Kingwood, really nice Kingwood, geometric inlays, (2) shafts, Uni-Loc, clean white/brown wrap. excellent condition, all original.

Not sure if my PM goes thru because using a Mac/Safari setup.

Dp cues...

I have had several.. some ebay, some not.

The one I have in my collection is a NON-ebay, custom 1/1 (really, really..).. beautiful dark coco with turquoise diamonds in the butt, and three turq (actually 6 total) diamonds on the forearm getting smaller in size as it goes from wrap to joint. Black leather wrap. It is a radial joint though.. :)

Good cues..

Felix

Dale can still make a nice cue. I gave my step-son a radial pin DP and it hits as well as any cue I've used, including my Guffeys and old DP. The biggest issue these days with his cues is quality control. His shaft tapers are wildly inconsistent (though to be fair, he'll retaper his shafts for free), his inlay work can be sloppy, and he sometimes doesn't seem to clean things up before he finishes his cues.

Mine's a 1/1 too, but the coolest thing about it is that it's signed and dated under the wrap- no sig on the forearm at all, just the DP on the butt cap. Hits like God made it, though, even with the Uni-Loc joint.

Expo

At this point it looks like a trip to the expo to see the man himself is the best bet.

He won't make Uni-Locs anymore. I'm getting some interesting responses, and one cue in particular looks pretty interesting. Just hoping someone will sell me a plain jane ebony cue, with a Uni-Loc joint. :)
