Heya guys,

I'm gonna be in the market for a Tim Scruggs player's cue within the next couple/few months. All my "waiting list" cues are still quite a few ticks away...and I'm gonna be getting my Jensen (see my Avatar) pretty soon...so next on my list is a TS player.

I have a Scruggs sneaky pete already...so I'm looking more for a birdseye, cocobola, bacote, etc. player's cue (plain jane, I guess). I was hoping that one of the AZB'ers out there would have one they were toying around with selling sometime soon...perhaps to make room for a different cue coming into their collection???

I'm most concerned about the cue being straight and sound....aesthetics aren't necessarily a primary concern...as long as it's not gouged all to hell, ya know?

If you've got something that would fit the bill, please drop me a PM with some specs, price, and maybe a pic or two.

Thanks much, ya'll.

....LAST CALL....

I'm gonna head up to Mr. Scruggs' shop next weekend...but would like to try and find one a little less "costly" than one that's brand new....and could stand to save the gas money, too!!! :)

Anyone?? I'm not opposed to a regular non-fancy 4 pointer, either......ah, the sacrifices I make!! :)

Thx,

Mark (Rat)

Scruggs

I was just looking around the other day and noticed a very nice looking Scruggs at the CueAddicts site.
It is an 4-point ebony, 4-veneers, ivory Hoppe ring and black lizard skin wrap. It is listed at $1150 so not sure if it is in your range or not.
Look at it here.

Good luck in your search.

Thanks, Alpine.

Yeah, I saw that cue. Looks pretty nice...but it's only 80% that it's really a TS cue...and it's a bit higher than I was wanting to spend for one. I'm trying to stay realistic about how much I could spend for one, when the time comes...and it's looking like a plain jane is the most realistic way to go.

Thanks for the heads up, though.

Be good,

Rat

I think it's just a matter of being patient to find a nice TS plain jane. I bought one on this forum about six months ago and love it. Birdseye, nice refinish by Russ Espiritu. I had also won an auction for one on Proficient's auctions but the seller refused to sell for what I had won it for...$480. Nothing I could do but leave negative feedback for him, but he probably never showed up there again anyway. Good luck!

A friend of mine is getting a Tim Scruggs back from Tim's shop where the cue was authenticated by Tim and the butt cap properly engraved. I think he might be interested in selling but I have no idea what he is asking. If you give me you're price range...I'll see if it is in the ballpark.

Four point and veneers, two shafts, I think 12.75mm or thereabouts. maple forearm. lacewood points and buttsleeve

Barry, if you're reading this....just trying to help out.

Regards,

Doug

Hey Rat,

Here is about the plainest TS cue I've seen in a long time on Ebay :)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7214954984&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT&rd=1

Maybe drop the guy a note and see if he has fallen in love with the cue -- or not

If you get a positive reply.....I would be interested in one of the extra shafts ;)

Happy Hunting :D
Hiya Ken,

Thanks! We're on the same page...as I tried to look that very same cue up yesterday (I remembered that E-bay auction, and figured it was worth a shot)

Contact has been made.

Thanks a ton!

Thanks, Salamander.

Far be it from me to say "I'm not interested"....but I would hazard a guess that a recently reworked and authenticated Scruggs cue would fetch a decent penny...and I'm not gonna have the ability to front that much cash for one.

Basically, I'm dealing with champagne tastes and beer pockets when it comes to a Scruggs!!!

Thanks for the response, though.

Be good,

Rat

You never know,

The cue is not re-worked, just authenticated and buttcap engraved. Shoot me a ballpark price range and I'll communicate that to my friend. I imagine that he may sell for under $1k

Doug
