WTB: "The One".......

Hiya Guys (and girls),

I thought I'd take a minute to post a double-sided thread. One begets the other.....

I've got a decent little collection of cues, and will be acquiring a few more over the next year (per my signature block). I have three cues right now that play JUST FANTASTIC...dare I say...close to PERFECT! (Nova - thanks to Hunter, Jensen - thanks to Bushwhacker, and Wayne Holmes Custom - thanks to Mr. Holmes himself!!)...This is great and all, but....:)

...I'm hunting for the "One." I mean, the one cue that puts all others to shame, with respect to pure playability. I'm not so much concerned about overall collectability or what-have-you...I'm talking about the "perfect hitting" cue. The one that provides a moment of "enlightenment" every time you hit a ball with it.

I thought this posting would serve two purposes:

1. To find "The One" for me
2. To get ideas about who is the overall "King" of cuemakers today.

So, the other side of this post being....

IF YOU COULD OWN ONE, AND ONLY ONE, CUE...WHO WOULD BE THE CUEMAKER THAT BUILT IT?

Thanks for the participation in my little survey/hunt.

Be good, and have a great Easter weekend.

Mark

Easy one, Mark....Jarvis, Creator of the Mosaic Cues :D !

Actually, I have just the one you're describing. Plain, marked, Barry Szamboti with leather wrap. I've owned a lot of cues, but this cue has a soul! Very understated cue, but absolutely flawless execution. I don't worry about somebody knocking me in the head for it. The people who know cues appreciate it and it just looks like a plain Jane to those that don't. Don't worry about inlays or rings shifting. The cue also is intelligent, kind, and loyal, and doesn't eat much...

Have a great Easter!

Steve

:) :) :)

Somehow, I knew Mr. Szamboti would have his name on here pretty quickly....SHARP looking cue, Steve. My problem is, finding a Szam for sale, without having to sell my house, child, and kidneys, is 99.9999982% impossible....unless, of course, you want to trade back for the Nova I got from you!! :) Honestly, though...I don't see that Nova going away from my possession any time soon. I really do love it....

Nice Szamboti....and seems to have all the great features...with mind, soul, and a small appetite!

Paul Mottey or James White.

I switched in and out of cues for a long time. i bought them,t raded them for others, sold 'em outright, you name it. I could never settle on just one cue. Then I bought a Mottey and its the only one I play with now.

Bump it up for the evening crowd!! :)

Bear in mind...I'm not just looking for the survey responses (although I'd like to see those, too)....I'm looking for "THE" cue for myself.

I would expect that the "this one is for sale" responses would be from dealers...not so much from those that found "THE" cue for themselves...but...nothing ventured......

A San Diego Chargers break cue..."seek strenously in hopes that ye shall find, for the holy grail of playability awaiteth..."

I heard it hits like a cannon too...

That's all I can offer on a Friday afternoon.

Scruggs or Tucker

Of course your not going to find a tucker or be able to order one anytime soon.

I personally have never had a scruggs I didn't like, some that I loved, some I wished I still owned.

Hey there Mark,

Wow! You're amassing quite the collection. How about the next time we play you can post one of those pretty little devils up in a race of some sort! Give it some thought.

Is your Skip still on the way? I should have mine in another week or so.

Are you back on our side of the planet (safely of course)?

Give me a call when you want to set that match up.

Take care and have a wonderful holiday.

That's a daunting task. I couldn't find it, so I had to resort to making my playing cue.......

Matt,

Sure, I'll put one of my cues up against ya! Matter of fact, I'll put up my whole collection against ya in a race to 10! Any time....any place...YOUR choice. All you have to throw up in return is your soon-to-arrive Skip. (Yeah, mine should be done my mid-May..and it's included in this little bet of ours).

Of course, I get the break, and you have to spot me the one, three, four, five, seven, and eight.

And, you have to play one handed, while drunk, and blindfolded.

Did I mention.....you also have to shoot with a rough-handled broomstick????

BRING IT ON, BROTHER!! :)

Yeah, I'm back safe. I'm due for another trip towards the end of this summer, and will be gone for awhile...hence why I'm building my cue harem now.

Be good, bro.

Well, at least you don't ask for much.

I thought you might appreciate how fair I was trying to be. Not once did I mention you having to wear clogs...and winter mittens with the chord attaching them to your beltloops.

No deal???

CHICKEN!! :)

For me, the "one" would be a nice 6 point Southwest that some kind AZ member would sell to me for $1,500.
