Over the years of playing I've seen a number J/B as Im sure we all have.
I have witnessed in person J/b made with purpleheart shafts/mahogany forearms and maple handles...but I have not been able to find any of these on the forums here or on the web...who makes these?
I have also seen a rather unique two sided one piece jumper designed by a local maker for a local player. This Jumper was built with 2/3 of it being a traditional shaft taper but then on the reverse was a more extreme taper...it looked as if it had extremely tapered from the standard shaft end diameter to what appeared to be a 13mm tip end within a matter of about 10-12 inches...the idea being that a larger amount of mass in a close relation to the tip along with the stiffer shaft tapper would allow for easier jumping within a confined shooting area or steeper jumping angle.
So what I would like to see is some non-traditional J/B.
What Im looking for are shafts or complete J/b of alternate wood species or design.
Or if you personally have any alternate design theories you would like to discuss, feel free to respond with a post about them.
