wwyd 3 cushion

But Hard for me to remember exactly as it only took. That route once, but by the 4th rail there was no more English on it , or if there was, it would be the wrong English to take it at that angle to the red, which wold be the reason why it went to the middle of the short rail

i will wait for others to comment
but since you were not sure where the cue ball hit on the fourth rail then we dont know what tract it took

I may have overlooked a post but I didn't see the possible bank shot onto the red. Long rail, foot rail, red, long rail, long rail, head rail, white. It can also be made slightly differently but the same idea. Long, short, RED, long, White. This is less likely and needs a fuller hit on the red and more speed. It can also happen this way. Long, short, Red, long, long, White.

It's nice to have multiple ways of making a billiard all from the same initial approach,

Tom

Well thank you for your response although I couldn't disagree with you more on your opinion of owning a table

Everyone's wired differently

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'd love to have my own table. But I still think you have to get out and play other people, or play with other people on your table, in order to learn faster. It is only a problem if owning your own table becomes an impediment to playing with other people.

No offense intended.

There is a series of youtube videos in which some Korean guys set up a particular position, and then mak the point in, literally, 15 to 20 completely different ways. A real eye opener.

Another option would be to hit the yellow ball full in the face with high right spin. The idea is for the cueball to hit the short rail first near the yellow; right long rail; and then pick up one of rails before red to score.

You can practice with different speeds to control the yellow for a safety as well as a score. You just need to hit it with a very smooth level high ball stroke, the right spin should take the ball to the general direction.

Dave

P.S. You can always point the fan as needed set on high :)

I saw this shot also, then i noticed it might be hard to beat the kiss on the red. If red was just a little more to the right I play your shot but not from there. Either the first shot Bob suggested or thin off the right - difficult hit..

Thin off the right...I'm glad to see somebody might play my choice.
....no traffic....not leaving much.
No carom tables left in my area....I'd be tempted to shoot that with one hand against any
other choice.....maybe having played a lot of snooker helps.

I understand your concern of a kiss, but it looks like you would have to cut the yellow to the right to get a kiss and by doing that would most likely miss the billiard anyway. If the yellow is hit head on, no kiss in my estimation especially using right hand english. But this is all for fun anyway.

Hope you are doing well and still playing 3C. If you see the boys at Raytown Billiards, please say hello for me. I've known Don since the early 70's and stopped in to see them on my way to DCC this last year. (Note: I hadn't played billiards in many years and got my a## handed to me by Steve H. But I had a ball.

PT, I'm not against hitting the yellow thin, I was just adding an additional option.

Peace. Out. :)

My start came from Frenchie, who I'm sure you know....
...so I've developed a fondness for not leaving much.

Where else but a pool hall would you meet an Armenian named Frenchie?
:)

Hahahaha - Yes, I knew Frenchie well. Small world. He sure loved 3C and traveled to a world tourney somewhere in Europe and came back w/many stories and a new cue. Agree that he was a very "tight" player, but played quite well, he was one of the best playing out of Cushion n Cue during the time I was there in the early to mid 70's.

Here's a picture of me and the group playing a tourney in Monroe, MI at Mike Donnelly's place, including Frenchie. Guess which one is me :) (photo courtesy of Dino Andrews)

David, get a haircut and get a real job.
...remember that phrase?
:)

a seemingly difficult shot, with so many applicable solutions,

great participation here

Good thread, sir...uh, sur.

This is one of the pleasures of being involved in billiards.
...brings back memories of many pool hall scenes.....after a big match.
Twenty of us around a table arguing about how a shot could be played...
...3-c and one-pocket got the most...snooker, straight pool and 9-ball were in the mix.

Grady at the Rack in the 70s...being asked a one-hole question..impromptu clinic...
...30 of the best cash players in the country hanging on his every word....
...even if some of those words were multisyllabic...

Britain...in the practise room...same thing....different terms....
..me..."So you call a 'bank' a 'double'?...whaddiya call a three in the corner?"
...Willie Thorne..."Oh, that's a cocked hat double." :rotflmao1:
