Just outfitted two of my cues last week with the X-1 from limbsaver (Both JOSS cues). One of the cues has a predator shaft the other with a factory shaft.

I played with a local BCA instructor that I know. We 1st played for awhile without the stabilizers off and then with the product attached. Maybe its just me but the only difference that I noticed was a slight change in the feel at impact. I did not notice any change in deflection or consistancy in the application of english or a change in throw.

I am going to keep playing with them attached for awhile and see if my game changes over time. Anyway, this is just preliminary. Who knows maybe I just have to play longer with the X-1 to notice the long term effects.

There is no way a rubber gizmo at the bottom of the cue would affect the english or deflection of a cue imo.

Hi Brian,

Is there something that makes you think this device is supposed to change deflection or english or throw? When I read about this device, I would expect nothing more than you've noted: a change in the feel at impact.

Am I missing something?

I even question how much it would change the hit of the cue. I doubt the feel is even affected much if at all. The piece is in the one place on a cue that affects the hit the least of any area.

They do claim quite a lot.

I personally think that all these 'new improved 'cues and accessories are mostly just ways of selling a product .

How Stephen Hendry won & world titles ,made thousands of 100+ breaks and total clearances with a one piece $50 cue that you can buy in a supermarket , I will never know .

Thinking a new cue or a new shaft etc will make you play better is an illusion .

The new 'taper 'shaft from Predator is basically a snooker cue design that hasnt changed for a century .Whats new about it ?

Nobody from Sims has suggested or claimed that the Stabilizer does anything but stop the vibration in the butt of a cue. If it stopped deflection and added spin to the cue ball, we'd be asking and getting $300 for it instead of $30.
Anyone who thinks that today's cues aren't a hundred times better than yesteryear's doesn't have a clue about pool.

This is the exact quote from the webpage.

By keeping the tip on the ball longer, the LimbSaver™ X-1 provides:

Consistent English
Controlled spin
Dampens the vibration of your cue stick
Enhanced energy on your break
Provides a solid feel
Improvement of your over-all game

They do go a bit further than vibration. In fact , by buying this product you will improve !

I also think that $30 is a bit much for what is basically a piece of rubber.

How much longer does the tip stay on the Qb anyway? I could not find that info on the site.

This is by no means a criticism on you personally, Grady . Your reputation goes before you and I wouldnt normally dispute or disagree with anything you say about pool or the art of cueing.

Im'an old fashioned type of guy who doesnt believe in gadgets .

I would say spend your $30 on a lesson from a good teacher .

All I can tell you folks, I am building a real expensive cue for Grady. If the product was a scam, or B--- S---, it would "not" go on my $25,0000 dollar cue, reguardless of who I was building it for.. . Fact, If Grady wants it and Grady gets it.

I am sure it is a very nice rubber bumper for protecting the base of the cue. Even if it does not make the hit of the cue a slight bit better it is not going to negatively affect the cue I dont think Blud. You are a cue maker though, do you see some magic in the thing that reduces the vibration in your cues from the normal materials you have used before? I dont see where it would do anything beyond what a rubber piece screwed firmly and securely into the base of the cue does.

Are we all missing some super magic that the thing does that actually does what they say?

Consistent English
Controlled spin
Dampens the vibration of your cue stick
Enhanced energy on your break
Provides a solid feel
Improvement of your over-all game

They really do say a ton of stuff about this thing, it is damn near a cure all according to them. The biggest innovation in cues since the leather cue tip? And all for only 30 bucks. Tell us what you honestly think about the thing. Or even Email me at Lyonspride@shaw.ca and tell me in private if you dont want to burn any bridges. I give you my word that I will not tell anyone anything you say in confidence, I will be satisfied with the private knowledge of your true belief of this product. I ask you this because A) you have seen the product I am sure due to you and Grady having dealings on this cue and B) I do believe you have alot of knowledge of cue construction and most likely you know exactly what the deal is with this thing and whether it is crap or not.

do they have a money back guarantee? if it is worthless send it back, they sound extremely confident that it will improve your game.............
