i cant get answer from warp folks yet.. if you have what i have you can help..xzero with 4660? 4 axis controller from them......controller uses printer port and cable to hook to computer,, changing computers to 64 bit, now need warp9 board, the controller has 25 pin cable while board has ribbon cable,,, question, can i use the printer porrt on controller with the new board, easy if you are using this setup?? or do i have to have 5 volt external power supply?
thanks

If you are talking about the smooth stepper you should be fine with either the usb or ethernet version. They do require a 5 volt power supply but you can use something simple like an iphone charge for that. I think you biggest problem may be mach 3 with a 64 bit OS if that is what you mean by a 64 bit computer

Which board do you have from Warp9? the USB or the Ethernet? The Ethernet board, I know for a fact needs the 5 volt supply, the USB one, not sure. I have the Ethernet one, but have only did the initial setup so far. Here is the link to their info page, hope this helps.

You can power the smoothstepper USB via the 5V from the USB cable, which is what I do on one machine. I'm also using Win10x64, with no problems. You'll need a 26-pin IDC connector to 25-pin d-sub (or better known as parallel port) cable
