First, Souquet then Efren then Django the Archer then Strickland, then now Yang. Ha ha ha they are dropping like Flies. My pick is Roschkowski but I think it will be Manalo or Hsia
 
there is 10 taiwanese players left! but what about chamat. he is pretty consistent when it comes to this tournament in terms of finishes.
 
Looks like I've been overlooking Raj Hundal too easily! Never seen teh guy play on TV and don't hear too much about the guy. It looks like he's got real 9ball game for a British player. The Brits are getting better in pool it seems.
 
These upsets are not really all that surprising though. We're talking one race to ten, single elimination at this point. These are the best nine ball players in the world, and we all know that any one of them can play perfect or nearly perfect pool for a race to ten games. Yang apparently hung a two ball early on, and never had a decent look at the table until it was 7-0. The fairly short races and single elimination format make it more exciting and can lead to many 'upsets', but also make it less likely that the best player will win the worlds than longer races and double elimination. I would prefer a truer test, but you have to give players like Hundal credit for coming through in the short run when it counts, and I do enjoy the excitement of a possible upset at every turn.
 
i think they should make the knockout stages to 7 games.. and for the tournament keep it single but make them all a race to 17 or..............

change the format to best out of five sets.. races to seven winner breaks. if i broke first in the first set you break first in the second. hill hill matches if 6-6 for more excitement. but this would be thru out the whole tournament. with players seeded from 1 to 128. on tight pockets. NOW the best would rise to the top i think.

*ahem* I think Jung Ling Chang will win the tournament, Chamat will take 2nd and Manalo third.

Chamat is probably the most consistent player at WPC, Pagulayan is becoming pretty consistent as well but Marcus is tops in recent years.
 
Don't count out KC Huang and YC Chen yet. They are very capable of running countless of racks...
 
At that level I believe Anybody playing 9 ball is capable of running countless racks. Look at Hundal, he was lights out and so does Chamat. It's anybody's game. Hopefully my fellow Filipinos will bring it home again. But I have the feeling Hsia and Roschkowsky are the one that can pull it out. I am hoping I wrong.
 
With Yang out, it is a significantly easier field. He was my favorite to win. Now, it's anybody's ballgame, i think. With 10 players still remaining (just how many of them qualified, anyway??!), the Taiwanese have the odds going for them. But don't count the Americans out, though. With Earl and Johnny on the way home, it's up to the young guns! Deuel hasn't been giving pool the attention it deserves but look where he is now. I think this is the time the torch was passed from the veterans to the uh, younger generation. Even the Filipino superstars Reyes and Bustamante are out (what a bummer!) and it is up to the second-stringers to take up the slack. Who will step up to take the mantle? And then of course there is defending champion Pagulayan and former champion Hohmann. This is getting exciting! I can't wait to get home to watch! God bless ESPN!!!!
