Where did you get that info, DDKoop? I am constantly checking the official WPC but it isn't updated, of course. What happened to Efren? He was having trouble there in the beginning it seems.

And so is Takahashi, Okumura, Ralph Souquet, and at the earlier stage of the tournament, Parica and Ismael Paez. By the way, a Efren-Ortmann match is in the cards. That should be amazing, only my TV won't show it. Does anyone know what their record against each other is like?

With Souquet it really wasn't too suprising seeing he was playing Marcus and that guys seems to be a shoe in for the final eight every year. Still, quite a few upsets already. Looking forward to seeing how Earl does. He also seems to always do well in this tournament.

Orcollo over Stephanov and Gallego over Chamat even with Marcus' usual wild 7 from Ramil. :D
 
Marlon Manalo is a rare one. A college grad poolhall owner who is also the Southeast Asian Games and Asian Games Snooker Gold medalist. A real fine gentleman to be with who only speaks when spoken to.

The other matches do not seem as interesting, although Majid (whom I've never seen play but only heard about) seems to be gearing up for an upset, possibly playing Chao two rounds from now.

Majid, though he surely has a chance, isn't likely to beat Kawabata, who beat Earl Strickland in the 2003 BCA Open and Efren Reyes in the 2004 BCA Open. Satoshi Kawabata is the real deal.

To me, the best match of next round is Luat vs Hsia. Too close to call!
 
I've a feeling Luat won't do so well against Hsia, given his performance in his last match against Davis (although he did win in the end). I hope efren beats ortmann and bustamante defeats his opponent so we'll all be treated to a really good game between the two filipino cueists.

That a shame, Renegade, because Luat looked like the Luat of old at this year's BCA open. Sad to learn has hasn't maintained that form.

That is precisely why I'll go with Kang over Luat. Don't worry though, sjm, I picked Chao over Majid, although the latter seems to be burning hot. :cool:
