Yet again... another aiming question

Very interesting. Wow, I learn something everyday reading AZ.

I used to have 20/400 or something terrible. Just for kicks I would play friends drunk with my glasses off. The balls looked huge because of the glare, distorted because of my astigmatism, extremely out of focus, but I could still knock the balls into the hole as if nothing had happened. Couldn't explain it at the time. Now I know why! :D

Exactly the same, except when I'm tired I don't even bother to pick up a stick. I just can't get focused at all. I got nailed with a hockey stick in my right eye a long time ago. Had slivers in the eye, this probably made things even worse. Anyway if I hadn't posted this I would have never realized why almost perfect vision can happen when it is really not there.

It was kind of a catchy tune...wasn't it? :D  (think I'll get a grammy?)
I sang it like VAP did and if it were up to me, you'd get that grammy. Very original and it made me laugh out loud here at work in the middle of an otherwise shitty day! Thanks DM! :p :D :p :D

Glad to hear it Timberly...ol' JLW or JWL douche bag is gonna have to go some to beat that effort. He can't aim...can't splain aimin'...he can't sing...and he's not even very creative. I'll send you an autographed copy of the CD as soon as it comes out. I'm getting a break financially on having them mass produced. It's kinda like a 2 fer 1 deal that's being struck right now along with William Hung..... ;) :D

LMFAO! I'm sure you sing better than Mr. Hung! LOL, I've got this mental image of a nice little gathering (much like the IP party in VF) where all attention is focused on DM as he proceeds to perform his masterpiece.... Any way in hell you'll be at one of these functions where we can get you drunk enough to maybe do this?!?!?! :p

I'd definitely have to be purty farked up :D I have more coordinated moves than Hung and I'm also better looking. :D

I just think that if opinions are shared that we should see some basis for them. I do not think that JLW should back down, he should be specific in identifying his position with a little more fact. He may have some very good stuff to offer.

I also know that Drivermaker has contributed quite a bit to this forum. And quite a bit of good stuff.

JLW- why not list the basis for your opinions and if you are not an A player, big deal, just state it. No one on this forum will give a hoot. I have run across players that have called themselves A-level, who frankly think that running 80 balls makes them an A. I do not care. I have run across B players who have developed some good ideas that I thought deserved merit. I'm not saying your either, but stating your basis (books, experience, teachings) for knowledge does offer credibility.

Example, I have scanned a book on mentally centering yourself, frankly I do not agree. I'm also not qualified to disagree, who cares. All I know that is for me to get myself in the zone I externalize on the object ball, all of my focus, concentration and energy is at the object ball. When I'm in the zone, even the longest and most difficult shot seems very close almost like I'm looking through a magnifying glass. Position becomes a more a natural part of my stroke. So for me, this works. But I state this as my own personal experience.

Just spill it out and identify specifically with what you disagree with and why. Lets all learn. You seem to be fairly new to this forum and you will enjoy it here. Lots of personalities and lots of knowledge.

Pete-

Let me just state, once again, that I have NO problem with any method of aim anyone uses. As I've said many times, it makes absolutely no difference to me. If it works for you, great. Use it. But my assumption had always been that pretty much all players above the beginner to intermediate level no longer felt the need to use any "system." That they all played basically by feel. My own personal experience has been that if I play enough, I begin to "see" where to hit the OB without having to imagine rail road tracks, ghost balls, or whatever. I develop a "feel" for where to aim. I know that is the case for me, and I assumed it was the case for most other players, since I only play 5-10 hours a week. If I play even an hour or so a day, I feel pretty much "in stroke." Since I believed this to be the case, I was curious as to why there was so much discussion about "aiming systems" on this forum. So I started a thread on aiming, not knowing the can of worms I was opening.

Apparently that hit a nerve with Drivermaker and Vapoolplayer, who immediately went on rants about how I didn't aim, thought I was "above" everyone else, never missed, could run endless racks and was basically a piece of s&^t. I tried several times to clarify exactly what I had said, not wanting to unintentionally offend anyone. Go back and look at the replies they made to my posts. But they had both decided they wanted a fight no matter what the facts were. They wanted to teach the "newbie" a lesson apparently. The hostility they have both shown toward me is mind blowing. And over what? Because I had the gall to start a thread and express my opinion? Isn't that what this board is about? I have played pool for over 30 years. I think that entitles me to have some opinions about the game. I have never said I was an authority on the game. I have read quite a bit about the game, however. And I have many Accu-Stats tapes and instructional tapes. I also play pool regularly with some pretty damn good players. So I consider myself to be a pretty well educated player. Am I an A player? No. Do I play in tournaments? No. I play at home and at poolrooms in the area. Am I an above average player? Yes. Well above average, I would say. I have no idea what my rating would be because I do not play in an organized league.

As for Drivermaker and Vapoolplayer- I will have to do without their expertise, because I've put them both on my ignore list. Frankly, I'm tired of arguing with them. Life is too short. I have tried to have civil, mature discussions on this board. And every time I have posted something, I have been attacked by one of these losers. What I have ever done to either of these two, I have no idea. But I'm tired of playing this childish game with them. As I've said before, they both may very well have a lot to share about the game, but I find them both to be condescending jerks- who are not on this board to discuss ideas, but to lecture others about what they are doing wrong. I'm sure there are lots of "lurkers" out there who don't post anything because they don't want the headache of being harrassed by one of these two "forum monitors" if they happen to express an unpopular thought.

As for the others on this forum, I think there are some very knowledgeable and friendly people here. And I look forward to talking about pool with you.

Hey Vincent...you're right, this guy is full of shit. He's not tired of arguing with anybody, he's getting off on it. Fact is...I can't believe the douche bag even came back on here AGAIN last night to write all of that garbage. I should sing my "Here Comes Santa/Douche Bag" song right now, but my voice is hoarse from all of the merriment yesterday. We put him in the limelight...he's getting too much air time, especially for a douche bag that doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to pool.

This SOB must be a true masochist...HOLY SHIT...MARISSA, MARISSA, I think we have a customer here for your torture chamber. Ain't no doubt in my mind that this boy needs shackled, ass whipped, and needs to start doing some boot licking immediately. Anybody that keeps coming back for our small time thrashings, is definitely ready to graduate to the "MISTRESS" herself. Subjugate this loser and get him under control once and for all.

Hey douche bag...I know your curiosity will get the best of you and you'll have to click off the IGNORE and read what I said, even though you don't have the balls nor the intellect to match wits....but they're having a talent search on CCB...www.billiardsdigest.com Why don't you join the forum over there? I don't post there at all and I don't think Vincent does either (VAP).
You'll be home free. You can post all the stupid shit you like and you may even pick up a following, who knows. They're calling....I can hear it now...
"Douche bag.....oh Douche bag...please come here and grace our board with your insightful posts". Maybe your dog likes you...maybe your kids like you...but VAP and I don't. Bye-Bye.....Fast Eddie

i have an account there, but haven't been back since i saw someone make a post that a cue was the same as a fulcrum and the further his bridge had, the more spin he could apply to the cue because he had more "leverage". or something really fuckin stupid alont those lines.

he'll be plenty safe over there.........and at home with his own kind.

Hey Eddie, at least we got our answers. this asshole has been playing for
T H I R T Y freakin years and he's not an A player. that goes to show you how far his "aiming" has taken him.

well above average??? i should hope so.......the average player won't make 3 balls in a row........i would hope after T H I R T Y years you could do that.

i mean, holy shit........how many years does it take someon to figure out that pool isn't their game????

If you rely on feel, watch out, this could be very bad. Most importantly if emotion gets into your game - pressure for instance, you are tired, you had a bad day, someone pissed you off. Your feel will go haywire and you will miss. I do not know of a player who does not use an aiming method, at least not a good one. Precision is critical and feel is not a precise thing. If you rely on feel then you may as well look at the ceiling while you shoot. Now feel as an extension to your stroke, feeling cue ball control is something entirely different (different topic). I'll bet if you evaluate your shot alignment that you will realize that an aiming method is being used. If not, I suggest you develop one and your game will heighten.

Kid...you're learnin' good. I kinda glossed right over that and those are great points. I wonder if he'll get his full 5 hours at the table this week with all the excitement that we've put him through and his creative energy going into his novel length posts defending non-aiming and blasting us?

Pete...that was an EXCELLENT post and on the money. However, he won't read it or do as you suggest. Not only does he know it all, but he's too obsessed with me and VAP to care. He'll be back on us...even though we're supposedly on IGNORE. This is no longer about aiming or it's benefits. (Still is for me though and always has been...I'm up for discussing it any time)

There's not a damn thing grumpy or gimpy about me...just make sure you don't look "dumpy" when you take that boy down into the dungeon. Put on the long high heels, stockings, garter belt...what the hell am I telling all of this to you for...you've got this whole scene already down pat. Have you introduced Aaron to the Chamber yet?

Whatever you think is necessary to get the best results.
Here's where I also think you would have talent and could be making some big bucks instead of jerking around on a forum for free.

I'm not kidding...this is a true story. About 10 years ago, I met this golf pro down in Fla. where I lived that had a lot of game, but he lost just enough of it not to be able to play on the big tour. We eventually became pretty good friends and used to work some verrrrry wealthy guys on the golf course for quite a bit of money. The guys with the bucks didn't give a damn because they had it to burn and just wanted to be around some pro's that could play and give them action and excitement during the day. HE always provided the matches and had them set up. I was just going along for a nice free ride for a good while, and then I started wondering..."where in the hell did this guy meet all of these wealthy dudes"?

So one day I started asking questions and pushing the issue. He hmmmm'd and hawwwwww'd and then he finally told me the story. His girlfriend supported him entirely from her earnings. He was a super good looking guy that was suave, well mannered, well spoken, but also a great gambler/player and matchmaker for golf. He eventually showed me some pictures and she was a Dominatrix in West Palm Beach where there is just tons of money.

She rented a building away from their home so no clients would know where she lived and would try to get personal, but the entire place was set up with every contraption known to man for S&M sessions. She worked only on referral and had a very private business that pulled in damn near $250K a year. He kept the names of her clients to himself, but he told me some stories of EXTREMELY well known and powerful guys that would go there for sessions and what they would do. Unbelievable!!

I never had the desire to find out and go, because all I had to do was reflect back on my childhood regarding all the ass whippings I got for being bad (you can just imagine), and it was not the least bit appealing.

Marissa...you're again missing the boat. BTW...she NEVER had sex with any of them. (don't start your Christian values, pornography, and defiling of the female body broken message tape again...it's just a business and we all know better anyway) Just take care of JLW first....

I've been approached to start online businesses like that and it's just not me. I know people who have worked in that industry so I know what kind of revenue it can bring in, but I could never do anything like that. Sex is just too personal for me, whether it's making love or ****ing... it's with one person who I trust and in a relationship with. BTW, There is more to life than money!!!
