When the officer arrived, he found an individual identified as Gonzalez being detained by patrons of the bar.
Witnesses said the assault occurred when a 32-year-old woman came into the bar upset the Oakland Raiders lost a football game and got into an argument with Gonzales.
During the argument, Gonzales reportedly picked up a pool cue from the wall and struck her in the left wrist and left ear. She refused medical attention, the detective said.
Gonzales was booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm.
He was released after posting the necessary $30,000 bail and given a Jan. 4, 2007, court appearance date, said sheriff's spokeswoman Christine Krebs-Belluomini.
