Well, this is on the outrageous side of course, but there are several folks on e bay trying to sell vintage era production cues like McDermott and Meucci at very high prices. Those sellers hold listings in buy it now categories for months and years without selling anything.
I don't refer to those people as sellers, actually, they are dreamers. A serious seller, moves their price point to the price that an AVAILABLE and WILLING buyer is offering in real time - the true market value of an item. Everyone else is just dreaming up prices not rooted in reality. Self denial of what a market actually is in a given time is just that - denial.
I see a lot of that from sellers on this site too. No problem testing the waters on a sale, but if you actually do want to sell an item- be prepared to accept true market value and a possible loss from your own purchase price of an item. I have made good money on selling some cues and lost money on selling other cues; but when I make up my mind to buy or sell something, I also am willing to accept the real time market value for that cue. Well, it is not a business for me - it is a hobby, so my perspective may differ from others looking to make money off this game.
