You got lucky

In last night's episode of "Chicago Fire" entitled "Purgatory," Deputy District Chief Jim Anderson has it out for Chief Wallace Boden. He removed and transferred all of his crewmembers to other firehouses, leaving Chief Boden with newbies.

Chief Boden, however, got his crewmembers back, thanks to the Deputy Mayor.

When Deputy District Chief Anderson found out about that, he was livid. And here's how Chief Boden let Deputy District Chief Anderson know he's not afraid of him anymore.

DEPUTY DISTRICT CHIEF ANDERSON: I don't know how you did it, but this is not over.

CHIEF BODEN: I did by doing my job to the best of my ability. I found out when I do that, good things follow.

DEPUTY DISTRICT CHIEF ANDERSON: You got lucky.

CHIEF BODEN: [Laughs.] Let me tell you something. When I was at the Academy, there was a pool hall at the corner of Jefferson and Taylor. A few recruits and I would play 9-ball for a couple of bucks a game. I would take a shot. The cueball would come right back to the center, and they would say, "You got lucky." I kept taking their money, and they kept saying, "You got lucky, Wallace."

This went on for two solid weeks until eventually they stopped playing me because maybe it wasn't luck.

DEPUTY DISTRICT CHIEF ANDERSON: We're going to see each other again, Wallace. I can promise you that.

CHIEF BODEN: Oh, yeah. I'll be ready.
