Your experience with: [Predator Cues and / or Shaft]

I am by no means a good player, but when I switched to Predator a year and a half ago, my game instantly improved SIGNIFICANTLY. I use a first-gen SPWU sneaky wood-wood with a Z1 shaft/kamui black soft and I LOVE IT. A teammate of mine let me try his one night and I just couldn't miss a shot. instantly. The first time I ever shot with it. So I decided I had to have one, searched high and low and couldn't find one so I settled for the SP4RW (red veneers). The same day it came in the mail, my buddy found me the SPWU so i ordered that as well. I use the SPWU with z1 for my shooter and SP4RW with 314-2 for my break stick. I also have a Z2 that I didn't really care for. Just something about the hit/feel that I don't care for. My wife uses it currently. I suppose if I ever break my Z1 and can't find another I'll have to settle on the Z2. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

I've never had any problems with Predator. I have a 314-2 shaft that's probably over 6yrs old & measures around 12mm. It's still straight with no cracks or seperation of anything.
And I know people say the Uni-Loc joint is junk, they come loose when shooting.
I will say I have owned 4 Uni-Loc Predator's and never had that problem. The 1st BK2 I owned would do the exact opposite, it would lock up and it would 2 of us to get it apart.
Now maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, but I know a lot of Predator owners and have never heard them say anything bad about they're cues or shafts either.
I know I've read stories on here about bad customer warranty policy's.
I hope I never have to deal with that.
They did mail me 2 rubber bumpers for free once.

I tried a predator shaft, played with one for 6 mo. Found that the front of the shaft was so light, that when you had a firm hit on the cue ball with right or left english the cue bounced off the ball. A closed firm bridge is needed. I just didn't care for it. I personally like a shaft that hit firm with feel, but I play with a soft tip so it is difficult to have both. Did some research on my own about ferrule wt. and talk to cue maker and player Bob Hunter. He recommended x c t ferrule, opened end. Heavier end than a predator, about the same wt. as micarta. Had Bobby change the ferrules on my shafts, have firmness and good feel with soft tips. Seems to have worked for me. The feel of a cue is very personal. Deflection is mass on mass.

dead hit with low feedback, not the best cue/shaft you can get for the money in my opinion

the only decent hitting shaft from Predator- original Z

and butt- P2 (dont get p3, its firewood)

I have a Joss cue, played almost one year with 314/2 shaft, after that another year played with Z2 shaft, now I switched back to Joss standard shaft and I'm playing one of my best pool.

i had a P3 for about two weeks. returned it to seyberts. really awkward balance and the butt end was thicker than most cues. couldn't get used to it at all. while ive always been a fan of how the 314 shafts play. the ones ive seen recently have been really low quality wood. they get nicked up extremely easily. I have a bk3 which breaks like a monster but the shaft like the 314-2 is pretty cheap wood imo. id recommend an ob or jacoby edge
