Your Grip

Do you open up your hand on the back swing of your stroke, like here:

I typically don't use the pinky, it's kinda in the air, even on break shots.

Do you keep a death grip or do you open up the fingers as you move backwards in your stroke?

My grip is relaxed throughout the entire time I am down and only gets a little tighter on my final follow-through.

Do you loosen up your pinky when you're at the very back of the stroke?
Or does it stay on the cue the whole time?
Mine never touches the cue.

I have recently found that using the stroke the OP linked to, is working very well for me.
I have been potting more balls in-a-row and have a much better ball speed/control. I'm working more on my PSR and relaxed stroke and so far my consistency is Much better.

Dave...

I relax my hand and keep all my fingers curled up. I like keeping a good grip on the cue but not white knuckling it.

Ok. This is very helpful.
I make sure my pinky never touches the cue because it feels like it comes under some tension at the back stroke.
I'm now guessing it's either because I'm either holding the pinky too tight on the cue and nor releasing it like in the video OR I'm going too far back in my stroke.
I've had people say my stroke is very long.
Perhaps it's time to experiment with a shorter stroke.
