Hi Sarah! Please tell us about your Shooter. Please give all the specs if you can. Also what you look for in a cue. My new girlfreind wanted me to ask you, she stated females in general have more sense of awareness in the feel of a cue. I have no reason to dispute it! Thanks. P.S. you can PM me if you would not want to reveal classified information, I won't tell!

Hi cut shot,

My cue specifics are nothing to be kept secret. I play with a Barnhart Cue made by Cory Barnhart. It weighs 18.4 oz. with a 12.6 shaft diameter. I use a pro taper. I have a shorter ferrule (similar to a predator ferrule) with a Moori Slow tip (something new I am trying out, I used to use a Moori Medium). My cue has a wood to wood flat faced joint with a Radial pin. It has a little bit of a softer hit than the cue I was using before (Cognoscenti). It has a white phenolic joint and a irish linen wrap.

When I am looking for a cue to use, solid hit is the first thing that comes to mind. I also have to say that if you are looking for a new cue be sure to play with it for a little while. Everyone seems to love a new cue when they first pick it up and then maybe not like it a week later after they bought it. Remember, everyone likes something new. Be sure you still like it when the newness wears off.

As for your girlfriend thinking women can tell things about a cue. I'm not sure if that statement is correct or not. Everyone has their own personal feelings about cues.

If you need any more info feel free to ask.

Take care,
Sarah

Thanks Sarah! That was interesting info. I appreciate it. Your comments were a light in the darkness! Let us know how the new tip goes for you.

Well, at the time I posted that I had the new tip for a few days and really liked it. I have noticed that the new Moori tips are different than the old ones when it comes to playability. The medium Moori's play more like hard and the soft Moori's play more like the old medium. Confusing, I know.

I also decided to try a Predator shaft. I like it so far. It has only been a few days though. I will definitely keep everyone updated on that.

What kind of cue are you playing with right now?

Take care,
Sarah

I have a Nick Varner sneaky pete that hits very crisp and plays like a violin! It has an 13mm tip, looks like it has a pro taper, a pioleted wood to wood joint and like I said a very lively crisp hit. I have never felt or played anything as good as it is and I have tried a lot of production and a few custom. I think I just got lucky and happened to get a good one. Also looks like a maple spliced into a rosewood butt. Don't know the tip or ferrule type though. ;)

I'm glad that someone has finally said that the Nick Varner cues play good! I think it is just like other things in life, people look at the price and think it must not play well. Sounds like you found a good cue and you are happy with it.

Take care,
Sarah
