The Z-2 has a Euro/straight taper from the flex point to the tip. The 314-2 has what most people consider a pro taper. From the flex point to the tip is close to the same diameter.
-flex point is the point where two tapers meets. When a shaft is described as a 12" taper, 12 inches back from the tip, the taper changes, creating the compound taper. The front end of the shaft has more flex because, generally speaking, the rise in the front taper is less than that of the back taper.
